I was recently drawn into a thread on Facebook that asked if we thought that the Atom was/is a "B-Lister" character. My EXACT response to this--"I do NOT find the Atom, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Zatanna, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Elongated Man, Aquaman or the Martian Manhunter to be ANYTHING but A-Listers!" We are fast approaching the climax of the 2015-2016 seasons of the DC Television Universe with only a few episodes of Gotham, Arrow, Lucifer, The Flash, iZombie, Legends of Tomorrow and only one left of the new smash Supergirl. While everyone in fandom has favorite characters from DC Comics, each wing of the DCTVU has a unique feel and a distinct voice. Since being your weekly episodic guide through three shows this season (Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash) I thought it would be fun to try once again to play armchair executive and make some perfect fits for each. Many of us are anxiously awaiting the return of Gotham. We have just one more week until season two premiers on Fox. Episode one, “Damned if You Do”, will air September 21 and promises to have yet another Gordon/Penguin team up. Last season ended with Penguin claiming the throne of A-number-one villain in Gotham and left us anticipating the emergence of new villains to try and claim that title. Read more...

d 6When I heard about the new Klarion ongoing from DC Comics I immediately thought of the character’s creator Jack Kirby. I wondered how Kirby’s original characterizations of a mischievous nearly omnipotent teenager who leaned toward the darkest of natures would be translated into modern continuity and how dark and bleak the character might become. Would it kill the elements of fun? I believed it might. However, when I heard Ann Nocenti was writing it I put it on my pull list and was intrigued enough by issue #1 to stay around another month. So after getting the second issue I read it first. What I discovered on a second read through was that this book has a lot of really good things going for it.   Read more...

Ottawa-Comiccon-SliderHey Bleeder Nation! Your king is still having a bit of a "con hangover", a result of an awesome weekend at the nation's capital (well, MY nation's capital, at least), Ottawa ComicCon! It was another great experience, hanging out with creators, cosplayers, and fans of comics, video games and pop culture of all ages! Nothing makes me happier than going to a con, and this one was one of the craziest! In fact, the numbers are in. 38,000 comic loving fans attended the event! Congrats to the organizers for putting the con together and making it a success! Oh, did I mention the interviews?! I got interviews! 4 amazing ones, to be exact! So be sure to keep a look out for those! You won't be disappointed! And as always I took pictures. Tons of pictures of the coolest cosplayers I ran into throughout the weekend. Once again Ottawaians (not sure if that's what they call themselves, but let's go with it) came out in full force and got their geek on! Read more...

igauzatannaIf you thought NetherRealm was done with the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC characters after they released Martian Manhunter, you were wrong! The hit blockbuster DC Comics bash-em-up game will soon have the mistress of magic, femme fatale in fishnets, the backwards talking beauty (okay, I'll stop), Zatanna added to their already impressive roster! She may not be the most known DC hero, but she's definitely a cult favorite that deserves a spot in the game!  Don't let her looks and phenomenal legs fool you, she can kick anyone's high heels!
