Back in 2012 I did a column that I always consider as one of my all-time favorites. And it was called “Heroes of the Ring”. This column correlates two mediums I enjoy that are very different but the same in many ways: comic books and pro wrestling. The goal of the column was simple, show that the “faces and heels” from WWE lore are not that far apart from the “heroes and villains” in superhero comics. The good guys were larger-than-life and the baddies were just as detestable. Well, the column did so well that I have wanted to do a part 2 with some of the more modern grapplers in WWE. Read more...

The wondrous Diana of Themyscira comes face to face with the Cimmerian barbarian Conan in a new miniseries this fall—WONDER WOMAN/CONAN. DC and Dark Horse have teamed up for a crossover of epic proportions, bringing back fan-favorite WONDER WOMAN writer Gail Simone and WONDER WOMAN artist Aaron Lopresti for an adventure unlike anything seen before—a collision of legends. “I love crossovers, I love Wonder Woman, and being able to bring the undisputed greatest warriors of the DCU and Robert E. Howard's Hyborian Age together for the very first time is a dream come true,” says Simone. “A major draw is getting to reunite with the great Aaron Lopresti, whose very favorite things to draw are Wonder Woman and barbarians. Its blades and bracelets, wizards and wonder and I couldn't be more delighted.” Read more...

It was only a matter of time before I got to this one, right? One of the coolest aspects of comicdom has always been the fact that many of our heroes need spiffy, space-age vehicles to get around in, right? I mean, how else is the Fantastic Four going to get to Latvaria to battle Dr. Doom or the X-Men going to get to wherever the Brotherhood is causing trouble? They need transportation! Over the years there’s been a great amount of vehicles that have come along...and then...not so much. This here’s a list of the coolest of the cool, so don’t expect the Spider-Buggy or the Jokermobile or anything weird like that. Also, the Guardians’ Milano was JUST introduced in the comics, so that didn’t make the cut either! And as always, your favorite may not make the list! My apologies, but you know how hard it is to please EVERYONE! Feel free to air your opinion in the comments section! Read more...

The Nazi-punching fan-favorite heroes of DC Comics: Bombshells are returning for a brand-new digital-first series this August with BOMBSHELLS UNITED. Wonder Woman, Batwoman, Supergirl and more continue to fight the oppressors of World War II as they head to a new location—the United States! Writer Marguerite Bennett continues to pen the greatest roster of female Super Heroes alongside artist Marguerite Sauvage, who returns to the title for our first arc. “BOMBSHELLS UNITED refocuses our story as an alternate history and asks the question, 'If you could live this life over, what would you do differently?'” says Bennett. “We journey back to different theaters of the war, and will tell stories of defining moments of the characters there -- both the stories as they unfold within the BOMBSHELLS universe, as well as information on how the true events played out.  Read more...

It shouldn’t have taken this long. Wonder Woman, the first full-fledged female superhero, created in 1942 by Charles Moulton Marston (also the creator of the polygraph test, in case you didn’t know) and H.G. Peter and maybe one of the most recognized comic book icons in history should have gotten a live action, full-length, wide released film adaptation DECADES ago. But perhaps the world was not ready. Perhaps female-led superhero movie flops like Catwoman and Elektra held things back. But let’s be honest here. The fact that Barb Wire got a movie before Wonder Woman is just too embarrassing.
