Luke Harper is a force in the WWE wrestling ring. With his grizzled beard, worn out clothes, intimidating stature, surprising in-ring agility and incoherent mumbling he has for years been the most loyal emissary of the demented Bray Wyatt in his creepy and disturbing Wyatt Family. Only until recently when he finally awoke from Wyatt’s thrall and has gone out on his own as a fan favorite or babyface (hard to compare this 6’5’’ fiercely bearded man to a baby, but that’s the term for it). But, we all know that is simply a character he plays on TV in the wild and wacky “WWE Universe”. In reality “Luke Harper” is Jonathan Huber, a family man who has been wrestling in WWE and the in independent scene for about a decade. Read more...

Back in 2012 I did a column that I always consider as one of my all-time favorites. And it was called “Heroes of the Ring”. This column correlates two mediums I enjoy that are very different but the same in many ways: comic books and pro wrestling. The goal of the column was simple, show that the “faces and heels” from WWE lore are not that far apart from the “heroes and villains” in superhero comics. The good guys were larger-than-life and the baddies were just as detestable. Well, the column did so well that I have wanted to do a part 2 with some of the more modern grapplers in WWE. Read more...

There is really only one name in animation as far as I am concerned in regards to the direct to video market and that name is Warner Bros. For the last 5 years not even Disney can challenge the leaps and bounds that Warner has taken for updating old properties and making them relevant and fresh for the modern audience. In fact, while resurrecting Tom and Jerry, Jonny Quest and the Flintstones in recent direct to the shelf features the team at Hanna-Barberra (a division of Warner) have also revived everyone from Birdman to Herculoids in DC Comics as well. Like all lifelong wrestling fans when the 9th Wonder of the World, Chyna, debuted on the scene my entire perspective on what was possible for women in wrestling changed. From her first day on the scene shew captivated my mind’s eye and struck me with her charisma and her scowl (which even then seemed put on) and I enjoyed her career through the television as any captivated fan. She was an original. Read more...

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn?! It looks like Leo, Donnie, Mikey and Raph will have no sleep 'til June! Because that's when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits theaters!  We've got a brand new trailer that shows a lot more of the mutant baddies, Bebop & Rocksteady (played by Gary Anthony Williams & WWE's Sheamus respectively), a bit more of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and even the Turtles' arch-nemesis, Shredder (it looks like we have a newer, younger Shredder in Brian Tee)! Oh yeah! It’s that time of year once again! Wrestlemania season! That time of the year when almost everyone (or at least more people that you think) get together and watch the 4 hour extravaganza involving big muscley men and women (and sometimes a zombie or a leprechaun or a voodoo priest) wearing outlandish tight outfits and getting in the ring in front of thousands of people for a fight that’s not really a fight...but still very treacherous nonetheless. Welcome to the annual exercise in futility where I try to predict five outcomes or events at WrestleMania. It seems that in the last few years (I have done this for three years now at ENR) I have managed very few correct prognostications despite my lifelong obsession and my regular season accuracy.
