Since the beginning of time we've had tales of good versus evil. These stories always seem to work. You choose a side to cheer for and see how it unfolds. Usually the good prevails and sometimes evil wins, ensuring that another good guy will come along to try and save the day. The story of good vs. evil brings us all of the elements we need to keep us entertained. Hope, anger, fear, love and all of those other adjectives that one would use to describe it. So how do you describe it when it's evil versus evil or good versus good? Is it possible to have a good guy against a good guy or bad against bad? Wouldn't one of them have to assume the other role? This week's episode of Gotham brings forth this very question. Let's see if it gave us any answers. Read more...

Now that we’re all back from our little trip to Switzerland we can get back to Gotham.  Forever ago we left Gotham in a bit of a mess. Jim Gordon finally caught Hugo Strange with a basement full of monsters at Indian Hill. Unfortunately, it was too late for Strange to blow them up, Fish Mooney helped them all escape. While Fish was setting the former Arkham inmates free Penguin and Butch were teaming up again to take back the title of King of Gotham, or just the best dynamic duo we’re probably going to get in this series. We were also introduced to the Court of Owls last season and best yet we caught a glimpse of a look-a-like Bruce Wayne.  Season three episode one has a lot to live up to. Read more...

Episode 20 of Gotham had all the makings of a blockbuster action movie. If this was 1998. Still, that’s pretty good for a television show about supervillains and no superhero. From start to finish this episode was fun to watch, even with the bad actors. By now everyone should know that Theo Galavan has been reanimated by Hugo Strange.  During the process Theo forgot who he was and needed a new purpose in life so Strange implanted the idea that Theo is now Azrael and his mission is to kill Jim Gordon. He has so far been unsuccessful in his mission but Gordon isn’t waiting around for the day that he is. He enlists the help of Theo’s sister Tabitha.  Tabitha knows where Azrael’s sword and all its mystical powers is.  Cue the bad acting scenes. This part, like a 90s action movie, is predictable. Gotham is finally back from the mid-season break and it seems it was worth the wait. Kicking things off is a hearing for Jim Gordon. Did he have anything to do with the death of Theo Galavan? According to Jim Gordon he did not. According to the last episode he’s a liar, liar pants on fire, but that’s ok because there’s a new guy in town who can help put out those flames. Read more...

A season finale is the final episode of television series’ season. Usually there are a few months in between the start of the next season. A series finale is the last show, or if we’re talking about Lost it’s the last big disappointment. Now we’re being subjected to these new, mid-season finales. After ten episodes of Gotham we’re getting a two-month break before season two’s finale. This could be a bad idea with a relatively new show, but for some reason, this break felt like it was right. Maybe it was all of the killing and cheeseball mythology, or maybe the fact that Bruce Wayne is slowly evolving into Batman is just too much to handle in one fell swoop. We need a break to calm our minds and hearts over what these last ten episodes have brought us. Read more...

After a blood-filled episode last week, it wasn’t overly clear what we’d get this week. We know Galavan and the Order of St. Dumas are still trying to take over Gotham. Again? It’s funny how even in a television show the, because I said so rule, tries to take effect. Just because Galavan says his family built Gotham doesn’t mean it’s true. One thing that is true, Bruce Wayne is the son of Gotham and he’s turning into one bad mofo. Read more...

Gotham is the city we all know and love. We know it as the city where Bruce Wayne was born and the city he was born to protect. It’s the city filled with mystery, crime, gangsters, villains, corruption and that small sliver of hope. Gotham is also the name of a television show that may have just taken the city of Gotham a bit too far. Read more...

Go Go Gotham Rangers! No, that's not right, but a little cross-over may have helped episode eight, "Tonight's the Night".  Every episode can't be on the edge of your seat exciting, right? Let's just say that’s right. Crazy Barbara, can we call her crazy?, was let loose by Galavan and she walked right into GCPD with a plan. Considering Barbara is an Arkham escapee and a self-proclaimed murderer, the police jump at the chance to arrest her. The problem with this is it's obvious it's some sort of set up and they all go along with it. Well, everyone except Dr. Thompkins, again she's the only smart, non-murdery one on the show.
