Here we are again! It's another year and another Montreal Comiccon! The one weekend of the year where I, your Bleeder King, join my fellow fanboys, geek girls and genre aficionados in my hometown gather together and revel in what makes us awesome! This year is my 5th annual time at the event, so it's quite special! As always I will bring you some of the coolest interviews (I MEAN COOL....I'M NOT KIDDING!) and experiences in the coming weeks! But first, as always, I bring my collection of the finest cosplays I ran into at the con. Everything from comics, to video games to movies were represented and this year I must say, Montreal upped its game with cosplays that were just unbelievable!! Read more...

If you had a wish list that meant you could pick only two things that could make you eternally happy and you could put those two things together in a video game, what would you pick? Traveller’s Tales seems to have been successfully plucking from everyone’s favourites for a number of years now - LEGO meets Star Wars, LEGO meets Indiana Jones, LEGO meets DC superheroes, etc – so it was inevitable that they’d get round to my ultimate choice; LEGO meets Jurassic Park. Entourage enjoyed eight successful seasons on HBO. One of the reasons is because it gave a very accurate peek into an industry that most people have always wondered about, but will most likely never experience or ever know up close. Also, for many male fans, it was the ultimate male fantasy. Seeing the characters bed sexy woman after sexy woman, meet and work with some of the most famous actors and actresses in Hollywood, and enjoy a life most people only dream of was something for most men to aspire to. The movie continues that trend and continues to build on the series, but I walked away with a feeling that a movie wasn’t necessary when they just could have had an eight to twelve episode season to end the show. Well, it seems we are well into the “remake era” of films. Many beloved (and not so much) movies of the past like Total Recall, Annie, Robocop, Godzilla, Point Break, Poltergeist, Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Fantastic Four and even Ghostbusters have been or are currently being remade. Do you even know there are talks of remaking Drop Dead Fred?!? DROP DEAD FRED! I can’t make that crap up. Is it getting out of hand? Do we even NEED to see the SAME premise rebooted over and over, even though it wasn’t so bad the FIRST time? Read more...

Welcome back to the what’s hot and what’s not list for this last week of March 2015. Don’t worry, if you’re not into basketball you’ll get your fill of March madness right here. There’s nothing like starting off the list with someone who’s hot, well they’re certainly hot under the collar. Recently a South African safari guide left his tourists to the lions. Literally. During a walking safari tour the guide warned all of the group to be very quiet and to not approach the growling bushes. Most people with common sense would understand that the bushes were not growling but the lions hiding in those bushes were. Read more...

hr_Jurassic_World_4It's here! Finally we get a look at the return to the world Steven Spielberg created in 1993. Jurassic World, produced by Spielberg and directed by Colin Trevorrow will no doubt revolutionize movies all over again. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt (Yes, we're getting Star Lord vs. dinosaurs! weee!), Jake Johnson and Vincent D'Onofrio, the film deals with geneticists developing a whole new breed of dinos to cause chaos! Why do that when the old ones were just as dangerous!? Who cares? It's science! And it's awesome! Here's the brand spanking new trailer!
Look at those raptors go!! Jurassic World hits theaters in 3D June 12th, 2015! Hold onto your butts! Read more...

e3_logoE3 2014 looks to be bigger and better than ever before. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is an annual event for the videogame industry that allows the biggest names in the business the opportunity to showcase their upcoming achievements and releases in the greatest display of one-upmanship and rivalry you’re ever likely to see. It’s great fun and it’s quite apparent that all the companies are out to outdo one another – Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo and let’s not get started on the developers! – but all done with a camaraderie and good-nature that features some of the most extravagant displays you will ever have seen. d4Often times when our favorite book becomes a movie, the purist is the first to scream foul (usually with good reason). However even the staunchest purist would be hard pressed to be enraged at the anomalies to their creed, when purism fails. Welcome to part two of my series on how strict adherence to a source material can be detrimental to a new piece of art or transcendence of the original. Last week we looked at Blade Runner – the adaptation of Philip K Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and how Ridley Scott’s vision for film after all the difficulties and deviation from the source material facilitated Blade Runner to evolve into a grand metaphor never captured in the novella and artistically unto its own something special. So let’s get this monkey smoking…   Read more...
