As you probably know (if you are a regular reader of Full Page Bleed, you are HARDCORE with this stuff), the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie is JUST about ready to hit theaters all over the world, and the world (scratch that)...the UNIVERSE is ready. Or is it? There’s a whole lot of new characters and developments about to be unleashed on us in this movie, so we need to be properly prepared for the onslaught. Every so often I do some rigorous research and put together a little must-read guide...just to get everyone caught up to speed and fully aware of what is in store in the latest big superhero blockbuster or TV show. Everyone has that one comic book--the one that turned them from a casual reader into a collector. Mine was Batman #311. Oh, I'd been reading comic books since 1974, but it was always just whatever caught my eye on the spinner rack. But, Batman #311 was different. "Dr. Phosphorus Is Back!!" The cover looked great, Batman shielding special guest star Batgirl from a burning "Skeleton Man!" I had to read this book! So, I paid my 40 cents and I couldn't wait to get home and read the book! I was not disappointed. Read more...

“I’m Unbreakable.” That was what did it for me. I’m probably the biggest Luke Cage fan that I know, ever since reading my older brother’s Power Man And Iron Fist comics back when...well, before I could even read...I’ve always thought that these two superheroes could be phenomenal in live action, be it TV or movies. Okay, this one is going to be tough. Because...basically, EVERYONE is pretty good at martial arts in comic books, right? I mean, she’s been holding back, but I’m pretty sure even Aunt May can bust out some wicked crane kicks if she needed to! So, let’s get this straight...EVERYONE’S opinion will be different when it comes to who is the best martial artist in mainstream comics. It’s really all relative. Nobody’s right and nobody’s wrong here. So, what I’m saying is, if you disagree, I’m sorry and not all that sorry...this is my opinion, and everyone’s allowed to have one! Read more...

"NO MAN ESCAPES THE MANHUNTERS !! THE MANHUNTERS ARE A MYTH!" These two contradictory statements make up the motto of the infamous Manhunters. The Manhunters are a force of robots, created eons ago by the Guardians of the Universe. This was long before they created the Green Lantern Corps. It was due in a large part to the Manhunters' cold unfeeling nature that made the Guardians of the Universe to disown them, and instead use sentient beings. The Manhunters took this as a betrayal by the Guardians! They banded together in secret, and tried from that moment on to undermine the Guardians and their soldiers at all costs. And this is their most devious plan yet !! It begins with a very diverse gathering. Diverse, but many of the faces are familiar ones to us. They come from various characters comics. Each carries a deadly secret. It is a secret that they have shared amongst themselves for, in some cases, YEARS! Read more...

bi 5Everyone loves finding out the inside scoop. You know, the behind the scenes story. They like to hear and read about their favorite writers, artists, and stories. One of the absolute BEST magazines for such information in the comic book world is a fine publication called : " BACK ISSUE !!" Back Issue is put out by Tomorrows Publishing. Back Issue's sole purpose? To deal specifically with with the comics, creators, and publishers of the Bronze Age of Comics! The series has been around for over a decade now. Back Issue started in November of 2,003. The first issue was devoted to the long awaited mega story of the Justice League of America vs. The Avengers by Kurt Buseik and George Perez.  So, it is readily apparent that Back Issue started out strong, and has kept that momentum going for these past eleven years.  It is also a momentum that shows NO signs of stopping!   Read more...

spideyOctober 21st , 1974 : That was the day the Classic, Original , and Great kids show " The Electric Company " premiered the first episode of the fourth season. In a show already known for having quirky and offbeat characters , there was about to be one more . Two such characters,  Easy Reader, played by Morgan Freeman (Yes, that is THE Morgan Freeman !) and the late Jim Boyd as his misanthropic character J. Arthur Crank, shot the opening vignette that let the audience in on the fun new feature !! The new features name was Spidey Super Stories and the feature character was the Marvel Comics smash super hero, The AMAZING SPIDER-MAN !! The feature was part drawing, part live action, all pure fun !! The quirky and often surreal new feature was an instant classic !! And I , a not yet six year old boy , had never seen anything like it before !!   Read more...

1-12-03It’s that time of year again; Father’s Day is just around the corner. Chances are you forgot and now you’re scrambling to find dear old dad a gift. Sure you can make him one of those great books with the cute coupons that are good for a lunch or dinner, to mow the lawn, or something equally as cheesy. Seriously, if you loved your dad he wouldn’t need to use a coupon in order to spend time with you. Also, dads don’t want bad ties that say something lame like best dad or dad of the year. Come on, your dad is your dad every year not just this year. If you’re still not sure about what to get dad for his special day you can always look to Bill Cosby for what not to get. He will assure you that dads do not want a sweater in June. They do not want tools that will force them into manual labor. Honestly, giving someone the gift of a toilet plunger really tells a person what you think of them, which is that you don’t love them at all. Also, please no bottles of Old Spice and absolutely no soap-on-a-rope. Read more...
