Since the beginning of time we've had tales of good versus evil. These stories always seem to work. You choose a side to cheer for and see how it unfolds. Usually the good prevails and sometimes evil wins, ensuring that another good guy will come along to try and save the day. The story of good vs. evil brings us all of the elements we need to keep us entertained. Hope, anger, fear, love and all of those other adjectives that one would use to describe it. So how do you describe it when it's evil versus evil or good versus good? Is it possible to have a good guy against a good guy or bad against bad? Wouldn't one of them have to assume the other role? This week's episode of Gotham brings forth this very question. Let's see if it gave us any answers. Read more...

A season finale is the final episode of television series’ season. Usually there are a few months in between the start of the next season. A series finale is the last show, or if we’re talking about Lost it’s the last big disappointment. Now we’re being subjected to these new, mid-season finales. After ten episodes of Gotham we’re getting a two-month break before season two’s finale. This could be a bad idea with a relatively new show, but for some reason, this break felt like it was right. Maybe it was all of the killing and cheeseball mythology, or maybe the fact that Bruce Wayne is slowly evolving into Batman is just too much to handle in one fell swoop. We need a break to calm our minds and hearts over what these last ten episodes have brought us. Read more...

After a blood-filled episode last week, it wasn’t overly clear what we’d get this week. We know Galavan and the Order of St. Dumas are still trying to take over Gotham. Again? It’s funny how even in a television show the, because I said so rule, tries to take effect. Just because Galavan says his family built Gotham doesn’t mean it’s true. One thing that is true, Bruce Wayne is the son of Gotham and he’s turning into one bad mofo. Read more...

Gotham is the city we all know and love. We know it as the city where Bruce Wayne was born and the city he was born to protect. It’s the city filled with mystery, crime, gangsters, villains, corruption and that small sliver of hope. Gotham is also the name of a television show that may have just taken the city of Gotham a bit too far. Read more...

Go Go Gotham Rangers! No, that's not right, but a little cross-over may have helped episode eight, "Tonight's the Night".  Every episode can't be on the edge of your seat exciting, right? Let's just say that’s right. Crazy Barbara, can we call her crazy?, was let loose by Galavan and she walked right into GCPD with a plan. Considering Barbara is an Arkham escapee and a self-proclaimed murderer, the police jump at the chance to arrest her. The problem with this is it's obvious it's some sort of set up and they all go along with it. Well, everyone except Dr. Thompkins, again she's the only smart, non-murdery one on the show. Episode seven is titled, “Mommy’s Little Monster”.  It’s safe to say that there is a serious parenting problem in Gotham. Mommy’s little monster could be in reference to pretty much all of the characters we’ve seen so far. Almost everyone can have some sort of diagnosis from the DSM-IV and yes, they’d probably blame all of their issues on their parents. Seriously, what’s the deal with these people in Gotham? Another explosive episode that brought about many turning points for a lot of characters. Some secrets were uncovered and some new secrets that proved to be deadly. Is it smart to have secrets in Gotham?  One bad place to have secrets is in the GCPD.  It used to be a place where you could get away with anything and the cops kept each other’s secrets.  Now that Captain Barnes is in charge and the new recruits are around no secret is safe.  So far secrets have only gotten people killed in Gotham. Barbara Keane’s parents, Alfred’s friend Reggie and several other lesser known villains. Let’s see what kind of damage the secrets of Gotham did in episode six “By Fire”. Read more...

Heavens to Murgatroyd, scarification. No, Snagglepuss wasn’t outside the window of this episode but the title of the episode sounded like he might be. Episode five had a whole lot going on and not really sure it went anywhere, even. Heavens to Betsy, let’s see what happened.   This episode started out pretty exciting, lots of action and even a bit of comedy but it slowly turned into a generic Shakespearian tragedy. It had to happen though, we needed the filler to finally get to the bottom of Theo Galavan’s master plan and why he’s even in Gotham. Too bad the show spent all the money on the pyro-technics on this one and not on writing the back story to this family feud. They could have also sprung a few dollars to give a tighty whitie warning.
