Wow! What an upgrade from that mess a couple of years ago. Here we have the sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2014 from Michael Bay's production company. That movie was hot, hot garbage to me. THIS movie was a much better improvement. Read more...

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn?! It looks like Leo, Donnie, Mikey and Raph will have no sleep 'til June! Because that's when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits theaters!  We've got a brand new trailer that shows a lot more of the mutant baddies, Bebop & Rocksteady (played by Gary Anthony Williams & WWE's Sheamus respectively), a bit more of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and even the Turtles' arch-nemesis, Shredder (it looks like we have a newer, younger Shredder in Brian Tee)! Just recently, Warner Bros. And DC Entertainment released the controversial superhero film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which marked the first time in the history of live-action screen productions that Superman and Batman appear together in the same production. While I have not yet seen this duel-themed film, it still remains in my "must-see" list of movies as I remain curious about how far each of these two famous superheroes would go to defeat the other. A coincidence about Batman v. Superman's release is that it happened in the same screen season when WrestleMania 32 took place (it aired on PPV by the way) and when another versus-themed movie Justice League vs. Teen Titans got released. It looks like we are in a major season of versus mania on both big and small screens, and there is no doubt that it will continue with the release of Captain America: Civil War, which will see Captain America battling Iron Man. mikeyIt seems this hot August weekend belonged to the Heroes on a Halfshell, as the Michael Bay produced and Jonathan Liebsman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film finally hits theaters this weekend. The big budget 3D reboot stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and Johnny Knoxville as the voice of Leonardo. I got a chance to check it out, an y’know what? After all the internet scrutiny and negativity surrounded the dreaded “alien” Turtles movie...it was actually a decent, fun, entertaining summer afternoon flick! Though if you’re still all hyper over Guardians of the Galaxy, just go and see that again, because GotG is the superior movie on all levels. But without comparing the two vastly different films, TMNT does hold up on its own and like Bay’s Transformers films, it makes up for in style where it lacks in substance. And there's absolutely NO aliens involved whatsoever! The screenplay was clearly re-written and Bay opened his silly mouth way too soon. Read more...

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-trailer-newNo.  Just no. Seriously. Please do not go and give money to this movie.  It is so bad. No really. This is pretty much my review.  Fun right? So let's talk about the movie.  We all love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I mean, what is not to love about wise cracking, weapon wielding mutant beings that are here to help the great people of New York and the world! There have been so many movies, video games, comic books, tv shows and more around the turtles.  It is not like there isnt a good source material to go and create a good movie out of. Well. It Happened. It really happened and it broke my heart. More so with the awesome new show on Nickelodeon. Read more...

Radical, right? TMNT-2014-Logo After being treated to the character posters from the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, a trailer dropped. Some people were awed. Some people were horrified. My daughter and I? “COWABUNGA!” was the word of the hour and, if I’m honest with you, we watched it for the 13th time this morning before she left for school... The movie, slated for an August release, looks set to do for the Turtles what the Transformers did for the nostalgic franchise. It comes from Paramount and Nickelodeon Studios and is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, who brought us Wrath of the Titans and Battle Los Angeles. The movie produced by Michael Bay and, judging by this latest trailer, showcases ‘Bayhem” at its finest with explosion after explosion after explosion. Read more...

“I'm constantly looking at things and it always helps to carry a small sketchbook or notepad. You never know when inspiration will strike.” r 11Let’s be honest, there are some of us out there (myself included) who maybe shouldn’t take up the cos-play circuit. The last time I tried, it resulted in me wearing a shoe box on my head which was decorated in red ribbon and I tried to pass myself off as astronaut from Starfox. Not cool.   At Geek Unleashed there was an array of cos-players and extremely talented artists. I was lucky enough to meet Mike Lawson from What You See Here and what I saw blew my mind! What You See Here creates wonderful, original artwork – all courtesy of Mike – but what makes him unique is the detailed replica’s he also painstakingly puts together.   On display were a variety of helmets from our favorite media including Dredd’s helmet, the Iron Patriot, a Warhammer 40,000 centurion and, my personal favorite, a replica of The Flash’s mask from the upcoming CW show – all of which are meticulously planned, designed and put together by Mike to showcase to those lucky enough to catch his work. But don’t just take my word for it – here’s the man himself!   Read more...

mega 3It’s a great feeling lifting a comic book from the shelf and then getting it home and having all your expectations changed. We’re in a modern age of re-invention where the characters that we thought we knew have been given an overhaul and modern sensibilities. DC has done it with the New 52. Marvel has done it with Marvel NOW! IDW continue onwards and upwards with Transformers: Regeneration One, The New Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What they all have in common is that they’ve taken what has already been established, stripped it down to its core value and then given it a modern lick of paint. Nothing has been more thrilling in the last two years than seeing the Justice League take on Atlantis, Thanos strike down the human race or Leonardo defect to the Foot Clan and wreak havoc across Manhattan. All three publishers took our expectations and blew them out of the water. Yes, there have been stops and starts along the way but overall, the last few years in comic books have been pretty awesome for our established heroes. Read more...
