Entourage enjoyed eight successful seasons on HBO. One of the reasons is because it gave a very accurate peek into an industry that most people have always wondered about, but will most likely never experience or ever know up close. Also, for many male fans, it was the ultimate male fantasy. Seeing the characters bed sexy woman after sexy woman, meet and work with some of the most famous actors and actresses in Hollywood, and enjoy a life most people only dream of was something for most men to aspire to. The movie continues that trend and continues to build on the series, but I walked away with a feeling that a movie wasn’t necessary when they just could have had an eight to twelve episode season to end the show. 537ba61b764b4So,we all know what pretty much EVERY other comic book/pop culture website and blogger thinks should be cast as Captain Marvel in Marvel Studios' first female led superhero film. Yeah, you've heard them all... Katee Sackoff, Emily Blunt....and let's face it, pretty much everybody and their grandmother's cat wants it to be Natalie Dormer (who as Margaery Tyrell uses that sly smile of hers to, um, how do I put it...CHARM the underage new king in Game of Thrones), and while all of those are pretty great choices...are they really the only ones?! I mean, let's face it. This is a very important movie. Probably even more important than the first Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy was, because female superhero movies have not done well in the past. Captain_Marvel_Vol_7_1_Granov_Variant_TextlessLet's face it...they have absolutely sucked! Catwoman, Supergirl, Elektra....yeah. Not a very good track record. And let's face it. We knew superheroes and space adventures could draw audiences if done right. We have nothing but proof that female superhero movies don't! This is Marvel's biggest challenge ever. And while the film is slated for 2018, the internet has just gone insane with fan-casting of Carol Danvers. And with good reason, Carol's a great character with a rich comic book history. So,since I've done this previously with a few of DC's heroes like Wonder Woman, Batman and most recently DC's former Captain Marvel, Shazam....let's try my first Marvel casting column...with a twist! Let's cast OTHER Carols! Possible casting choices that have been lost in the Sackoff/Dormer hullabaloo. For this column, since I like to rate each choice, I will be rating each actress by her "Carol Calibre" from 1 to 5. Read more...

EX3-PosterThe boys are back, and the firepower has just about run out. Yeah, The Expendables movies have been fun, but after seeing the third installment of the all-star mega-action franchise, I'd have to say Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the gang really should hang up their semi-auto machine guns, throwing knives, and black kevlar for good. It’s best to end a good movie franchise while it’s still watchable, and Expendables 3 is just barely making the cut. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun time at the movies, but we have a whole new wave of action stars on the horizon and they seem to be handling things quite well. We now have Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Jason Mamoa and we can safely now add Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista to that list. Those guys are ready to take over as the action stars for the next few decades or so. Read more...
