It's been a long while since I have sat in front of my keyboard and did this and all I can say is spell check is wonderful. Enough of that though. It is well documented (by me), that I am not what anyone would call a gamer. For the most part I am satisfied with Mario Kart and the like. Read more...

“I like to think Spider-Man gives people hope.” – Peter Parker    amazing spider-man-2 poster   There was a time when I’d lost my way with Spider-Man,particularly after the less-than-thrilling mess that was Spider-Man 3(in which my favourite Spidey villain disappeared within the veryooze he was comprised of!) and following the One More Day story arc within the comics. Of course, that changed with the Superior Spider-Man from Dan Slott and Marc Webb’s (c’mon, if ever there was a more aptly named director!) The Amazing Spider-Man; the movie that reset the franchise with a darker, Nolan-esque tone and a new look at the origin of the wall-crawler. While many maligned the interpretation of The Lizard – a hash of CGI that worked in varying degrees – I was overall impressed with the movie and wanted to see more from this Spider-Man. Read more...

TBOLTS2012021_DC21_LRI've said it before and undoubtedly I will say it again, but my two biggest loves after my family are Comics and Baseball. There used to be a commercial on TV for Chevy that went, Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet. For me it has and for the foreseeable future will be Family, Comic Books, Baseball, and Apple Pie. Or any pie, pie is the worlds best food, but that is another column. Anyway I got to thinking I have combined the two before into a column, why not do it again today? Before I went the comic books that had baseball scenes in them, and once putting super heroes in one of the nine positions on the field. This time though I was talking to a neighbor and we were talking about nicknames in baseball, and Ryne Sandberg who makes the list came up, and there was the column. What I have today are Baseball players with Super Hero or Villain names. Some of these might be a stretch but you will get the idea. Read more...

the-amazing-spider-man-2-electro-posterThere's a brand-new Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer, and it is definitely "Electro-fying"! This one focuses on one of the main villains (yes, plural) of the flick, Electro (portrayed by Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx), and shows us a bit more about his devious plans for the wall-crawler and New York City. Don't think it's just about him though, we also see quite a bit more footage of Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and of course, some great shots of Spidey himself (Andrew Garfield), doing whatever a spider does. Congratulations on surviving a turkey coma and possibly a wrestling match worthy of the next WWE Summer Slam while shopping today. If you chose to stay at home and forego the madness that some call Christmas shopping then welcome to the hot list, you made it. john-legend-chrissy-teigen-lg-cakeSomeone else who made the hot list this week, John Legend. Why would singer John Legend make this hot list? He put together one heck of a birthday party for his wife Chrissy Tiegan. It was a Super Mario themed party and the singer even dressed up as Mario. Tiegan dressed as Princess Peach and other partygoers filled in as Luigi and Toad. Just because you’re a real older doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun on your birthday. Another hot item this week, a sneak peek at the new Spider-Man poster for the upcoming movie has been floating around the internets. Or is it strictly interwebs when talking about Spidey? Either way, it gives a closer look at some of the villains that Parker will have to suit up to fight. Paul Giamatti is playing The Rhino, which is apparently a robot now. Chris Cooper is playing Norman Osborn and Dane DeHaan is playing Harry Osborn so it’s not clear which Goblin that is flying around in the background. One could speculate that it’s the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn, but you can never tell what you’re going to get in these "rebakes".   Read more...
