This week the team travels to 1987, visits their younger selves and learns in detail about the tides of change and how it applies to our time travel heroes…er legends. Read more...

Dear Readers, it is a good time to be a comic book superhero fan. More specifically, in the realm of TV it has become nearly a nightly feature for every household who adore the genre. From Walking Dead on Sunday, three shows on Monday, two n Tuesday 2 on Wednesday and two on Thursday (sorry I’m counting Archer) it has become a paradise for those who retreat into heroic episodic fantasy for our preferred entertainment. The Reverse Flash was a devious evil baddie in The Flash’s season 1. He destroyed trust, broke hearts and murdered loved ones in his quest to destroy Barry Allen and we loved it all season long last. This year we have been treated to a vastly different Harrison Wells, the original Thawne and a long journey to heal, recover and solidify into the hero no villain wants him to become. As the viewer, we have the Reverse Flash to thank for the Flash, both literally and figuratively. Read more...

Time once again to delve into the episodic superhero phenomenon called The Flash and I am pleased to be your guide once again. So far this season we have seen the emergence of 52 parallel realities called the multiverse, learned Iris’ mom is still alive and has a son as well. We have seen countless times the skeletal structure of the show fleshed out with new villains like Atom Smasher, Zoom, Dr. Light and even a few parallel world heroes like Jay Garrick. We have seen in just five episodes that a new love for Barry and a new partner for Joe are one in the same and named Patty Spivot and she is the grounding force for Barry that Iris and Linda could not produce in prior experiences. While the DC Cinematic Universe is likely to be internet cannon fodder and contentious to the last fanboy it is clear the television division of WB has struck gold in the seasonal superhero series department. For 10 seasons the WB squirmed and experimented and tested ideas on Smallville and when Arrow launched 4 seasons ago the finished formula resulted in the successful ratings launches of The Flash, Gotham and Supergirl and critically acclaimed but canceled Constantine. So leaving out the latter and focusing on the former it is clear that the spines of all these shows follow what has worked with Arrow and any attempt to disguise it is abandoned altogether.
