It was only a matter of time before I got to this one, right? One of the coolest aspects of comicdom has always been the fact that many of our heroes need spiffy, space-age vehicles to get around in, right? I mean, how else is the Fantastic Four going to get to Latvaria to battle Dr. Doom or the X-Men going to get to wherever the Brotherhood is causing trouble? They need transportation! Over the years there’s been a great amount of vehicles that have come along...and then...not so much. This here’s a list of the coolest of the cool, so don’t expect the Spider-Buggy or the Jokermobile or anything weird like that. Also, the Guardians’ Milano was JUST introduced in the comics, so that didn’t make the cut either! And as always, your favorite may not make the list! My apologies, but you know how hard it is to please EVERYONE! Feel free to air your opinion in the comments section! Read more...

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day (or Valentine’s week or month for some...why have bounderies?), the time when lovers love and secret admirers let their feelings be known! And single people? Well, I guess they all deal with this day differently! The most important thing, whether you believe in celebrating V-Day or not, is that you appreciate your special someone all year around! And for those of us bleeding hearts that bleed comics as well, we get our #relationshipgoals from our heroes and their perfect/not-so perfect relationships! So, I figured what better way to toot St. Valentine’s horn by firing up the ‘ol Listmaster 5000 machine and do one of my old fashioned lists! This time it’s comics’ Top 10 Power Couples! Some are superheroes with non-superheroes, and some of them are both supers...but all of these sweethearts showed us that their true powers are their love for each other (awwww)! Read more...

Well, NOW are we excited? Those of us in the “geek community” got a huge reveal this week as we FINALLY got a peep at Tom Holland as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man this week! And while there was a bit of the inevitable negativity among some (mostly about the slight changes to Spidey’s classic costume), generally people everywhere are excited for this movie and to see the wall-crawler back home! I just this week finished the final chapter of Marvel’s Secret Wars event, which ended an era for the Marvel Universe and opened a new one, an ALL-NEW ALL DIFFERENT one. I’m a lifelong Marvel Comics reader...and no matter what they do to their characters and stories, I’m going to remain that way. After all is said and done, I’m a lifer. And boy, are things different than just 10 years ago. Some good changes, some bad ones...but evolution has always been a key element to Marvel and its characters.  Change isn’t a bad thing. But now, in the Marvel Movie Era, the movies now impact those changes. Read more...

So, I’m a fan of hip hop music. I grew up listening to Biggie, Tupac and the Wu-Tang Clan. And everyone in between. I don’t often get a chance to write about that love on a geek/pop culture website...but sometimes I’m able to sneak it in there. One of the coolest songs Notorious B.I.G. ever wrote was the “Ten Crack Commandments”, where Big basically...well...lists his simple rules for being a drug dealer. Not saying it’s the right thing to write a song about...but whatever. It is what it is. And what it is is one of the best written hip hop songs of all time, in my opinion. Read more...

In 2005, 20th Century Fox took a stab at making a live-action film based on the first family of Marvel Comics, the Fantastic Four, while the movie made money and Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis had great performances, it wasn’t the film that fans had hoped for. Two years later, a sequel was made and not even the presence of the Silver Surfer could have saved that film. Years later a reboot of the popular foursome was announced with Josh Trank, director of the unexpected hit Chronicle, in the director’s chair and a cast full of young and capable actors. Needless to say, fans were intrigued and excited. Would the third time be the charm for this franchise? To be honest, HELL NO. This movie is boring, poorly paced, overly dark for no reason, and contains a climax that’s out of place and just plain puzzling. Read more...

Thanos is back! More specifically The Mad Titan’s creator, Jim Starlin, is back with an all new original graphic novel continuing the space faring shenanigans of the Marvel supervillain. It has been pretty much a year since Starlin’s last Thanos OGN, Infinity Revelation, in which Thanos actually teamed up with his longtime rival, Adam Warlock against some of Marvel’s most beloved cosmic characters. It was a pretty oddball story but had more than its share of both fans and critics (me being one of the latter), but in the end, Starlin’s take on his own character is a unique one, and that alone was worth the read. Even though I’m on the fence with Starlin’s writing style, who am I to argue? This is Thanos how he was meant to be! Read more...
