It was only a matter of time before I got to this one, right? One of the coolest aspects of comicdom has always been the fact that many of our heroes need spiffy, space-age vehicles to get around in, right? I mean, how else is the Fantastic Four going to get to Latvaria to battle Dr. Doom or the X-Men going to get to wherever the Brotherhood is causing trouble? They need transportation! Over the years there’s been a great amount of vehicles that have come along...and then...not so much. This here’s a list of the coolest of the cool, so don’t expect the Spider-Buggy or the Jokermobile or anything weird like that. Also, the Guardians’ Milano was JUST introduced in the comics, so that didn’t make the cut either! And as always, your favorite may not make the list! My apologies, but you know how hard it is to please EVERYONE! Feel free to air your opinion in the comments section! Read more...

The superhero era of movies has a lot to thank Hugh Jackman and his portrayal of Wolverine for, when you think about it. The first X-Men movie in 2000 was a massive hit and Hugh’s portrayal of the adamantium clawed, stogey smoking, hairy Canadian was a big part of that success. As a diehard fan of the X-Men comics and Wolverine being my favorite superhero of them all...he wasn’t a perfect comic accurate Logan by any sense of the word. He was too tall, too young, too good looking...not stalky enough...not “Canadian” enough. When I first read that they had casted an AUSTRALIAN in the role I nearly threw up in fear it was the failed 80’s X-Men cartoon pilot all over again. Read more...

Well, fellow comic fans...you have failed everyone. Marvel surely hasn’t. Even Nick Spencer hasn’t. But some fans, who likely have not even physically bought a comic book in a decade, have actually ruined everything. A plot twist is just that...a plot twist. It’s fiction, it’s meant to shock, bring out strong feelings in the audience and make their jaws drop, feel dread and try to make them think “well, I need to see what happens next!” But now we have the internet, where everyone that has two fingers to type with has a faceless voice. And some of those people misuse their voice and use it to be totally moronic. Read more...

There’s nothing better than having a faithful furry companion, is there?! We all love our pets to the point of loading up all of our social media accounts with cute pictures of them, and some of us even give our pets their OWN accounts (although it could be a bit crushing when your puppy gets more followers than you)! Of course even our beloved comic book superheroes have pets as well...and some of them are just as badass at fighting crime and beloved by fans as their owners! Read more...

I have been reading the final issues of comics taking place in Marvels 616 Universe. As most of my readers probably know by now, Marvel Comics is following suit from what DC did a few years ago and rebooting their universe after the big blockbuster Secret Wars (technically it’s Secret Wars 4, if you count Bendis’ “Secret War”), and most of the long run and over 70 years of continuity will be (probably) flushed away. I’ve been pretty vocal on how I don’t think reboots are actually the way to do things, in fact, I wrote an entire column on how this was a bad idea. But anyhoo, none of that matters anymore. It’s happening, and the continuity of the comic book company I’ve stood by and loved my entire life is basically going kaput. As I was reading the final issue of Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers run, I was pretty bummed out on how things were ended: Iron Man and Captain America basically fighting like infantile school kids while their world gets decimated. THIS is how you end 7 decades of heroism and teamwork between two amazing and celebrated heroes? By having them act like....well...selfish douchebags? Read more...

Savage_Hulk_Vol_1_1_TextlessA few weeks ago, I started the countdown to the release of The Avengers: The Age of Ultron with a review on Iron Man (Vol. 1) No. 300 as an attempt to give Avengers member Iron Man his review feature spotlight at ENR. Yes, I had lots of fun doing that review while attempting to get readers excited about the upcoming Marvel Studios film, and as the countdown to the movie itself continues, I decide to give another Avengers member his review spotlight at ENR. This time, we focus our attention on another favorite of mine: the green friendly lonely giant we come to know as the Hulk. Although I never usually read a Hulk-centric comic book stories, Hulk was a kind of Marvel character I can never resist seeing on film and television, and I guess what makes the character so appealing for long (both in comic book medium and outside it) are not only his battles with superpowered tyrants, but also his struggles to find happiness in a world dominated by humans who fear him despite his desire to find a cure for his transformation and being an Avenger himself.
