Yeah, I’m pretty proud of that title. Don’t worry, Fitz didn’t hit any fans in this week’s episode. But plenty of other stuff that rhymes with Fitz did! The Agents thought it was smooth sailing when they escaped the Framework, but silly them! Things are never smooth with them. As soon as one problem is solved, an even bigger one arises. This week was prime example of that. Read more...

So, I recently have been (in the middle of waiting for a Marvel fix in between Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage), loading my Netflix list with a plethora of classic (and some recent) Marvel cartoon shows. And like I did ever since I was a kid, I just fell in love and re-fell in love with almost all of them. Do you remember what your first Marvel cartoon was? Did it make you a fan for life? Did it make you interested in the comic it was adapted from? It was meant to. For generations Saturday morning or afternoon cartoons were the vehicles for comic companies to gain interest in their characters (before live action movies). Read more...

Legacy in comics is important. Legacy in all epic fictional sagas is VERY important. Just look at the response of Star Wars: The Force Awakens compared to let’s say...the new Ghostbusters remake so far. Force Awakens was all about continuing the story we all grew up with, at the same time as adding an excellent cast of new and exciting 2nd generation characters that will keep the adventures in a galaxy far, far away going strong. Ghostbusters is a whole new reboot of a story that many feel is a cheap remake of a movie that still to this day holds up for many of us. If they were to make this movie with the all-female cast of new characters that are the daughters or protégées of the original Ghostbusters, well, I bet more fans would enjoy that. Read more...

Every year I run into a film like X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest Fox presentation of Marvel’s beloved mutants. I will explain what I mean in the conclusion, but first I wanted to discuss the film and its highs and lows. The film opened to respectable box office on the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the U.S. the reviews thus far have been largely critical and partly astounded but I think what happened to this movie is the same thing that happened to Jupiter Ascending, John Carter and even to some degree old school films like Krull suffered from.  What they suffered from is a great budget, great director but in the acting department…well just say that it was that aspect that kept an amazing film just average. What’s the definition of a hero? Well, if you look it up, the official definition is: a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Does that define Jim Starlin’s power hungry, Death worshipping character, Thanos? Not exactly. Not normally...but in Starlin’s trilogy of graphic novels (also, the Thanos vs. Hulk miniseries coupled in there), here we have a character that has forever been portrayed as tyrannically mad, finding himself in the role of savior of the universe as we know it!
