Injustice: Gods Among Us was only just the beginning. NetherRealm, the same video game studio that develops the Mortal Kombat series has yet another blockbuster Fighter franchise on their hands. Injustice delves into an alternate DC Universe where Earth’s greatest hero, Superman, becomes the type of tyrannical villain he was once sworn to oppose after he executes The Joker. The snowball effect of that event creates a world where our heroes and villains are drastically changed and the status quo of the DC Universe is flipped upside down. The first game’s story mode had the heroes of a more familiar Earth come to help Batman’s rebels battle Superman’s regime, but this new installment shows us the aftermath of that story. A new threat emerges as Brainiac (who is responsible for the destruction of Krypton in this reality) attacks Earth’s cities and enlists the world’s vilest menaces to aide him. Read more...

mortalkomatlogoMortal Kombat began bringing joy, frustration and exciting characters to video game enthusiasts back in 1992 and it’s been an exciting game to play ever since. Mortal Kombat was brought to life by Midway Games, but in 2011 Midway Games filed for bankruptcy and the fate of the game was unknown. Warner Brothers acquired the development team for Mortal Kombat.  Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment currently owns the rights to the series and are releasing a new game in less than a month. This new game, Mortal Kombat X, will have some familiar faces and some new ones as well. What better way to get acquainted with the new characters than with a comic book?  Thanks to the new ownership with Warner Brothers we have a series through DC comics. Read more...

Scorpion_low_5436cc64db5026.52421479As a youth, there are several key moments in my life that I can gauge by video game releases at the time. One of the most important was the move to high school. It was a time when boys became slightly older boys; cheekily raiding Dad’s liquor cabinet led to engagements with the porcelain throne, we discovered that smoking wasn’t as cool as it looked in the movies and that girls were the most beautiful and mysterious creatures ever to walk the Earth. All those things were minor distractions compared to the video game release of the time – Mortal Kombat. I remember the advertisement all too well. Hundreds of kids ran through the streets of some major city in the States (New York, I believe), they raced down alleys and all met in a central junction. One of the kids raises the cartridge above his head and screams “MORTAL KOMBAT!” to the sky. I was sold and I had no idea what the game was. Read more...

You’re just in time to catch up on all of the things that were hot or not this week. If you ever find yourself wondering how it is that some things find their way on the list and others don’t you’re really wondering about the wrong things in life. brucejennerSeriously, you should be wondering why InTouch magazine photoshopped this ridiculous photo of Olympic gold medal winner, Bruce Jenner, on to actress Stephanie Beachham’s body. The magazine ran as story about what it would be like if Bruce Jenner would look like as a woman. They’re also running with the story that this is exactly what Bruce wants to look like when his transformation is complete. So it might be a little funny but come on, that red-orange lipstick is not his shade at all.   Read more...

InjusticeScorpionDLC610The rumors are true! Scorpion, the famed yellow ninja from the Mortal Kombat video game series is indeed a DLC character in Injustice: Gods Among Us, the hit DC Comics Fighting game! How so?! Well, Injustice IS developed by NetherRealm the studio that now makes the MK series and Ed Boon, the creator of MK, so Ed and the boys have decided to throw one of their own beloved characters into the mix, and have him using his trademark rope & spear to have guys like Batman and Superman to, well, "GET OVER HERE!" And hey, it's not like it's the first time Scorpion has fought some of these guys! Remember 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. The DC Universe?! Consider this Scorpy's payback for all of those batarangs to the face!   Read more...
