A recurring tradition at genre conventions is that those attending are allowed the option to dress up as characters and mechanisms (like say spaceships and big robots) from works of fiction, and we genre fans can never get enough of them no matter the frequency of people cosplaying each character or mechanism. As a matter of fact, we enjoy seeing cosplays so much that many of us would never dare to attend a genre convention without cameras on us. Read more...

I have been going to genre conventions since the mid-2000s, and the first convention I went to was Con*Cept at the Days Hotel on Guy Street in Montreal. You can say that trying to go to at least genre con per year has been an annual tradition of mine when it comes to celebrating what I like. Anyway, I am certain that some of you readers who visit ENR on a regular basis have never been to a genre convention before but want to give it a try, especially with a few genre convention events this year on the way with this year's Otakuthon, for example, to take place on August 7-9 at the Palais des Congrès (also known as the "Montreal Convention Centre"). Well, if you are that kind of person, chances are you have come to the right place as I am about to present to you, a survival info feature explaining everything you need to know on how to enjoy genre conventions. So sit back and learn. Read more...

Montrealers are about to get another dose of extreme geektastical awesomeness this summer! Our own "Bleeder King", Dave Michaels went to the big MCC 2015 press conference and brought back some very juicy announcements! MCC spokesman, radio DJ, rockstar and friend to eXpertComics, Jason Rockman, hosted the event along with Montreal mayor (and self professed fanboy), Denis Coderre. Mayor Coderre said he was happy to visit the convention last year and cannot wait for this year's event. Leading the pack of celeb guests is Aquaman in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, Jason Mamoa! Jason was one of the guests in 2013, and loved it so much, he's back to visit his MTL fans! Read more...

DSC_0845 copy copyIf you're a horror fanatic you've probably heard of Jen and Sylvia Soska. These Canadian twin sisters have taken the horror world by storm and after directing their critically acclaimed horror/thriller masterpiece, American Mary, they have become the most sought-after new filmmakers of the genre. Now the "Twisted Sisters" have just released their latest creature feature, See No Evil 2, the sequel to the original WWE Studios slasher flick starring Glenn Jacobs, who you probably know better as the Devil's Favorite Demon, WWE Superstar Kane. The original See No Evil starred Jacobs as Jacob Goodnight, a monstrous serial killer bent on unrelenting murder and mayhem. Of course, The "Big Red Monster" was a natural in that role, and the first film received quite a cult following. Read more...
