Most Trade Paperbacks (TPBs) don't hold a special place in the hearts of comic book collectors. They're stories collected in book format which means they're reprints. If you're not into collecting and just in it for the story then a TPB is one of the greatest things to ever happen to comic books. You don't have to go searching for old copies to complete the story. TPBs are great for learning about new characters or to get reacquainted with some of your old favourites. The TPBs do have a few drawbacks. Some of the charm of comic books are the letters to the editor, extra stories at the end which are usually a two or three page story for an upcoming book, and in the old comics you got those great advertisements. You won't get variant covers or fancy holograms either. Read more...

So, I recently have been (in the middle of waiting for a Marvel fix in between Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage), loading my Netflix list with a plethora of classic (and some recent) Marvel cartoon shows. And like I did ever since I was a kid, I just fell in love and re-fell in love with almost all of them. Do you remember what your first Marvel cartoon was? Did it make you a fan for life? Did it make you interested in the comic it was adapted from? It was meant to. For generations Saturday morning or afternoon cartoons were the vehicles for comic companies to gain interest in their characters (before live action movies). Read more...

Well. Here we are. Some of us thought this would happen. Some hoped it would. Others really don’t care one way or another. But we choose to ignore those jerks. Fox’s latest Fantastic Four reboot has crashed and burned faster than Johnny Storm in issue #587. Personally, there’s a part of me that really feels sorry for a lot of the actors and crew involved that likely worked their asses off to try to make a cool movie. Nobody thinks of them when making fun of these movies that don’t do well. I also found it a sad state of affairs when “internet buzz” flops a movie before its release. Something about it doesn’t seem fair. When did Rotten Tomatoes start to run our lives and make our opinion for us? Read more...

I knew of the Fantastic Four since around the mid-1990s when the 1994 animated series Fantastic Four (better known as "Fantastic Four: The Animated Series") was in its run. I never read much Fantastic Four comic book stories as I mainly read Spider-Man stories when it comes to what I tune into from the Marvel Comics side of things on a regular basis, but I always managed to tune in to every animated series Fantastic Four ever produced when they were available on the television airwaves (there were four by the way), and it was thanks to watching them that I got to know everything there is to know about the famous four-member super-hero team whose comic book series gave birth to Marvel's Silver Age (1961-1973 if not mistaken) as well as some of its most famous adversaries (such as Doctor Doom, Galactus, and Mole Man for example). Original_Sin_1_Teaser_VariantLast Time in Original Sin: In issue #0,Nova visited the Watcher to find out why he watches, and learned an origin story that we’ve never been told prior, and discovered Uatu’s original sin, or his father’s at least. We also got a glimpse at the “machine” that allows Uatu to watch not only what is happening in the Marvel U, but what happens in all realities at all times in the universe. It’s called the multiversal friction engine...and it’s pretty awesome in appearance as well as in name. It was the last story of Uatu (for awhile at least), and a darn great one...but now onto issue 1 and 2 of Original Sin, and it’s going to be a feast for your eyeballs! As always, SPOILERS HAPPEN!
