I don’t know what kind of being James Gunn is at this point. He seems like a director of geekcentric film that was built from the ground up for the benefit of mankind. He just seems to get it. He knows that in these times we need films that are fun from beginning to end and will absolutely take us away from our complicated lives for a couple of hours. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, like its predecessor, does that spectacularly. Read more...

Jem_logoHey there, Bleeder Nation! So it’s official! There’s people out there that actually are trying to put together a Jem & The Holograms movie!!!! YES! Just what we've always wanted!!!!! I mean, what? Wait. No. No...that won’t work. At all. It seems the unholy alliance that is bringing this 80’s cartoon to live action is, of all people, Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun (that...makes a lot of senseon many levels, actually...doesn’t it? One, that a guy named Scooter is making a Jem movie, and two, that Bieber’s manager is making a Jem movie). Along with Scooter is the director of G.I. Joe Retaliation (A.K.A. the not-so horrible Joe movie), Jon M. Chu and for some reason Paranormal Activity producer, Jason Blum. What I take from this information is that Jem & The Holograms will be starring Miley Cyrus as Jem, Justin Bieber as “the boyfriend character” (I can’t remember his doesn’t matter), it will have ninjas and will be filmed “mock-umentary style”. stonelakeThe government may be shut down be we’re not, because we still have to bring you what’s hot. The internet was a buzz this week with the recent discovery of a lake that turns living things to stone. Perhaps the discovery of the lake isn’t really recent but wasn’t widely known to the general public until photographer Nick Brandt published his new book, “Across The Ravaged Land”. Did this news come out just in time for the government shut down? Where are all of those politicians going to vacation on their down time? Lake Natron is in Tanzania and looks like a pleasant place to visit. Just don’t go swimming.   Read more...

themessSometimes in the world of what’s hot and what’s not things can get mixed up. For example, when something is a hot mess, it’s not hot. Most people would agree that Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA’s was a hot mess and it’s not the kind of hot mess you order up at the local diner for breakfast. Now that you’re totally confused, grossed out, hungry or all three let’s kick off the list of what’s hot and what’s not this week. Read more...

Fans-Petition-Warner-Bros-to-Uncast-Ben-Affleck-from-Batman-vs-SupermanRun to the hills, there’s a new Batman in town. Everyone is up in arms over the news of Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman and it’s getting a little ridiculous. Petitioning Warner Brothers and worse, petitioning The White House to prevent Mr. Affleck from becoming the new Batman. To those who are less passionate about who portrays the caped crusader in a movie the whole ordeal is a bit comical. Really, it’s a movie. In a few years they’ll find some other actor to play him for everyone to get upset about again. Sure Ben Affleck isn’t a fan favorite but look on the bright side, at least they didn’t ask George Clooney to take the batsuit with nipples out of retirement. In fact, here are ten actors/entertainers who would be a much worse choice to portray the beloved Bruce Wayne. Read more...
