I was recently drawn into a thread on Facebook that asked if we thought that the Atom was/is a "B-Lister" character. My EXACT response to this--"I do NOT find the Atom, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Zatanna, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Elongated Man, Aquaman or the Martian Manhunter to be ANYTHING but A-Listers!" I covered DC Comic's LEGENDS #1 last week. This week, I will be covering issue #2 of the series !! Legends #2 starts off with Gwyneth Tate, a newswoman who is reporting on the incineration of Macro Man .by Captain Marvel. G. Gordon Godfrey "happens" to be on the scene for an interview. Godfrey bemoans the "Rise of the Super Hero" who he claims will bring about society's downfall. "Today's high powered world is too sophisticated, too complicated, simply too dangerous for such a outdated notion as the Heroic Ideal!" Read more...

It has been a glorious start to the second season of Supergirl. With the big bang two-part premiere over and Superman back to Metropolis, it is time to lay the flesh on the skeleton created the previous two weeks. While episode 3 is still clearly setting up the new season it is here, more than the premiere the real seeds for what is to come are sown. Last week, we established the overall theme of this season to be change and the consequences of gaining your own voice and we said goodbye to Cat Grant. This week we delve into a plethora of Easter Eggs, new characters - beloved and well-known - as well as explore the themes and content of Welcome To Earth. Read more...

Welcome back to our weekly journey through the television episodic goodness that is Supergirl which airs on Monday nights. In the offseason Supergirl changed networks, leaving CBS and joining the Arrow-verse on the network’s sister station, CW. After watching the first two episodes (the said two-part premiere) I was both thrilled and horrified, warmed with joy and overcome with sadness. This alone would me Supergirl a great viewing experience, but the golden lining of this series isn’t in what they give you up front but their strict adherence to thematic device. Read more...

By that I mean, in a week off from broadcast our favorite CBS hero has been renewed for a second season causing a collective sigh across fandom and this week on the show the plot advances so fast with so much content it feels like five or six episodes…or part one of a season finale (which this very much is).
