Well, it’s Valentine’s Day (or Valentine’s week or month for some...why have bounderies?), the time when lovers love and secret admirers let their feelings be known! And single people? Well, I guess they all deal with this day differently! The most important thing, whether you believe in celebrating V-Day or not, is that you appreciate your special someone all year around! And for those of us bleeding hearts that bleed comics as well, we get our #relationshipgoals from our heroes and their perfect/not-so perfect relationships! So, I figured what better way to toot St. Valentine’s horn by firing up the ‘ol Listmaster 5000 machine and do one of my old fashioned lists! This time it’s comics’ Top 10 Power Couples! Some are superheroes with non-superheroes, and some of them are both supers...but all of these sweethearts showed us that their true powers are their love for each other (awwww)! Read more...

Over 20 years ago, DC Comics and Marvel Comics did the unthinkable. The two companies teamed up to settle the ultimate debate, with the help of their fans. Who would win in a smackdown of epic proportions between their greatest heroes? Think of it as Wrestlemania, but involving your favorite superheroes! Read more...

So here we are,  the second part of my year-end spectacular column which gives out phony, non-existent awards to comics and comic related stuff that I myself, as a lifelong lover of such things, deems worthy. It’s The Bleedie Awards! Read more...

Everyone has that one comic book--the one that turned them from a casual reader into a collector. Mine was Batman #311. Oh, I'd been reading comic books since 1974, but it was always just whatever caught my eye on the spinner rack. But, Batman #311 was different. "Dr. Phosphorus Is Back!!" The cover looked great, Batman shielding special guest star Batgirl from a burning "Skeleton Man!" I had to read this book! So, I paid my 40 cents and I couldn't wait to get home and read the book! I was not disappointed. Read more...

Now this is more like it, I say! This time, we get a sympathetic "villain". Man Of Steel starts off with with a nice touch on the cover. Whereas the other covers have all depicted that issues "Star", this cover shows the character FROM THE BACK (this is reminiscent of the movie "Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff. The first time we see the Frankenstein Monster, the creature comes through the doorway BACKWARDS! I do not know if this was intentional or not. But like I said, if it was, it was a nice touch)! In Man of Steel #4, Superman meets Lex Luthor for the very first time (in the Post Crisis reality that is). Luthor is, of course, the man who will become Superman's mortal enemy. The issue opens with an unshaven Clark Kent receiving a special visitor -- Lois Lane. This is Lois' first ever visit to Clark's apartment and she is impressed by the spotless condition of said apartment. Lois is still harboring a grudge against Clark for his scooping of the Superman story from her. "You're not going to start in on THAT again, are you? It's been eighteen months!" To which Lois replies with precision -- "seventeen months, two weeks, four days and an odd number of hours and don't you forget it, Kent!!" Read more...

A few weeks ago, I wrote a column on the thirtieth anniversary of The Man Of Steel # 1. The column received a great deal of attention, mostly positive, from my readership. So I decided to write another column about the miniseries! That's right, I am talking about Man Of Steel # 2! Read more...
