How many times can you read, watch or listen to the same story be told over and over again. We as comic book fans have had our fill with the Cape movies and their retelling of our heroes birth into the 4 colored world. It's like you can't have a movie without pulling out that magical first issue and revisiting how the man, boy, woman or girl became the hero they are now. What's worse than this? When some creator decides to change up that sacred origin tale. I have no idea why the movies insist on butchering my comic book canon with their nonsense. Not once has it made a better telling than the original and every time the original would have been better accepted by us the constant reader, and the non-reader couldn't have cared less, they were there for the movie. Know why? Of course you and I and everybody else who read comic books know why...ITS NOT THE STINKING ORIGIN! It's not, it's some substitute bastardization of what we know to be canon. Non-the-less Spidey is selling well again, has a brand new movie out, and sure enough the brain trust at Marvel has decided to plumb the depths of the Spider-Man origin again. That is what I am reviewing this week. Lets get started. Read more...
