Injustice: Gods Among Us was only just the beginning. NetherRealm, the same video game studio that develops the Mortal Kombat series has yet another blockbuster Fighter franchise on their hands. Injustice delves into an alternate DC Universe where Earth’s greatest hero, Superman, becomes the type of tyrannical villain he was once sworn to oppose after he executes The Joker. The snowball effect of that event creates a world where our heroes and villains are drastically changed and the status quo of the DC Universe is flipped upside down. The first game’s story mode had the heroes of a more familiar Earth come to help Batman’s rebels battle Superman’s regime, but this new installment shows us the aftermath of that story. A new threat emerges as Brainiac (who is responsible for the destruction of Krypton in this reality) attacks Earth’s cities and enlists the world’s vilest menaces to aide him. Read more...

Previously on AoS: The impacts of not only the Inhuman outbreak but the Battle of N.Y. and Age of Ultron were truly felt as an anti-alien extremist group attacked an ATCU facility. The Watchdogs (Adapted from the Mark Gruenwald Captain America run) literally imploded the building using old Stark Tech. The Watchdogs’ actions set a slight rift in the group as Daisy Johnson was set on doing whatever is necessary to stop a future attack while Mack (whose brother Ruben supported the Watchdogs), didn’t want to punish anyone just because of their opinion. For the first time, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dealt with a very real and current topic and it was very Marvel-esque! Read more...

constantine061014-645x370"Paranormal investigator teams up with angel  and young girl to save mankind from a infestation of demons". Sounds like the synopsis of a certain CW show? Okay, like, almost ALL CW shows? Well, it's not. It's the synopsis of the pilot episode of Constantine, NBC's contribution to the onslaught of superhero/comic book adapted TV shows this season. Very much like the 2005 Keanu Reeves movie adaptation with the same name, John Constantine is a tough talking exorcist that reluctantly is thrust into a demonic plot and becomes savior of Earth, and sworn enemy to Hell. Except, unlike the film, this version of Constantine is much more faithful to the original Vertigo comic, Hellblazer and the current DC Comics series also named Constantine. Read more...

Congratulations on surviving a turkey coma and possibly a wrestling match worthy of the next WWE Summer Slam while shopping today. If you chose to stay at home and forego the madness that some call Christmas shopping then welcome to the hot list, you made it. john-legend-chrissy-teigen-lg-cakeSomeone else who made the hot list this week, John Legend. Why would singer John Legend make this hot list? He put together one heck of a birthday party for his wife Chrissy Tiegan. It was a Super Mario themed party and the singer even dressed up as Mario. Tiegan dressed as Princess Peach and other partygoers filled in as Luigi and Toad. Just because you’re a real older doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun on your birthday. Another hot item this week, a sneak peek at the new Spider-Man poster for the upcoming movie has been floating around the internets. Or is it strictly interwebs when talking about Spidey? Either way, it gives a closer look at some of the villains that Parker will have to suit up to fight. Paul Giamatti is playing The Rhino, which is apparently a robot now. Chris Cooper is playing Norman Osborn and Dane DeHaan is playing Harry Osborn so it’s not clear which Goblin that is flying around in the background. One could speculate that it’s the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn, but you can never tell what you’re going to get in these "rebakes".   Read more...

keanu_47_roninKeanu Reeves returns to the world of martial arts adventure in 47 Ronin, the new film based on the true story of the forty-seven Ronin (with a fantasy twist to it). Directed by Carl Rincsh, Reeves stars as Kai, a samurai who joins the historic group who avenge the death of their master who was slain by the evil Lord Kira. On their journey of vengeance, they battle witches, dragons and other creatures of Japanese lore! Pacific Rim's beautiful female lead, Rinko Kikuchi also stars as Lord Kira's servant, Mizuki. By Dave Michaels (FPB)   Age_of_Ultron_Vol_1_1_Djurdjevic_Variant_TextlessAs we all know (well, those of us that follow comics), the heroes of the Marvel Universe have found themselves in the Age of Ultron, a world where an evil A.I. has taken over the world and reshaped it in its own image. And as we embark on Marvel’s version of the robot apocalypse (which you can follow in my review column, Bloody Circuits...cheap plug!), I sit and think...could something like that actually happen?! How close are we to generally screwing up our cushy life using all these machines for tweets, status updates, texts, playing games and watching porn? I mean, we haven't been very kind to technology lately, have we? We trade in our devices and appliances literally every two years these days...not even always because they stop working properly...we usually trade them in just because the new version is out or they just become out of date. We THINK we aren't hurting anyone's feelings...but maybe we are! Read more...
