Injustice: Gods Among Us was only just the beginning. NetherRealm, the same video game studio that develops the Mortal Kombat series has yet another blockbuster Fighter franchise on their hands. Injustice delves into an alternate DC Universe where Earth’s greatest hero, Superman, becomes the type of tyrannical villain he was once sworn to oppose after he executes The Joker. The snowball effect of that event creates a world where our heroes and villains are drastically changed and the status quo of the DC Universe is flipped upside down. The first game’s story mode had the heroes of a more familiar Earth come to help Batman’s rebels battle Superman’s regime, but this new installment shows us the aftermath of that story. A new threat emerges as Brainiac (who is responsible for the destruction of Krypton in this reality) attacks Earth’s cities and enlists the world’s vilest menaces to aide him. Read more...

I don’t really know where to begin with this review. Here we have a movie that actually wanted to do something unique and unorthodox and it actually achieves that. It wanted to take characters mostly known as villains and make them antagonists that you want to root for. We got that. It wanted to provide action, comedy and yes even a little dash of dramatic moments, it gives us all of that. It wanted to have a VERY respected director in David Ayer (let’s not get things twisted...this is the guy that made TRAINING DAY), give us his unwavering, skewed vision of the DC Universe underworld without any compromise...and he did. So. What more were we looking for, here? Read more...

A few days ago, Warner Bros and DC Entertainment launched a new television series (or television miniseries, depending on how long it will last) set in the universe of the hit DC Universe character-based television series Arrow. Yes, I am referring to Legends of Tomorrow, which centers around a band of heroes and villains from the Arrowverse. I have not yet watched the premier episode, but apparently, this is Warner's first attempt in producing a live-action DC hero show about a team of over 3 people since the failed Justice League of America pilot that got filmed back in the 1990s but was never officially released. arrow1Last time on Arrow was part 2 of the show's Black Canary trilogy. So far, Laurel Lance, as Black Canary, found her worth as a super-heroine being put to the test when she battled Brick. Throughout the conflict, she suffered injuries that caused the pain of her losing her sister Sara (a.k.a. "Canary") to return, leading her to almost give up on surpassing her dead sister. Fortunately, she managed to pass the test to prove her worthiness as a heroine with the help of Roy Harper/Arsenal, John Diggle, and Felicity Smoak, who decided to return to Team Arrow when realizing that Oliver Queen's/Arrow's absence could never in the way of the team's being able to help those in danger. Meanwhile, Malcolm Merlyn found himself debating with his daughter Thea Queen on how to deal with Ra's Al Ghul when he comes to find them, whether it was to exit Starling City or stay and fight back. Most importantly, Seo provided way for Oliver to avoid capture from the League of Assassins after Oliver recovered from his fight with Ra's Al Ghul, but unknown to Oliver and Tatsu (Seo's wife), Seo is still helping the League hunt down Malcolm Merlyn. Now, we arrive at the point where we look at the final part of Arrow's Black Canary trilogy, "Uprising". Read more...

Mighty_Avengers_Infinity_Earth-616_001What makes a great superhero team? There can be many factors that come into play. Great characters with personalities that mesh together in various situations is a start. Not to say that all characters on the team have to like each other (some conflict is good), but when the chips are down they have to get it together to take down the bad guys and save the city, world or universe. The costumes don’t have to match, they don’t all have to be the same type of hero, but the one thing they have to be is a unit. Everyone knows The Avengers, X-Men and The Justice League...but there are many superhero teams that came along that I personally loved to read about. What can I say? I’m just a fan of teamwork! Oh yeah, this is a list, people! And this time it’s underrated superhero teams!   Read more...
