“The guilt... means your work is not finished.” This is the most poignant line in Daredevil Season 2, as Father Lantom (played brilliantly by Peter McRobbie) once again tries to console Matt Murdock after he fails to save someone’s life as his vigilante alter-ego, Daredevil. This is Lantom’s only appearance in Season 2, but once again, his wisdom indeed helps Matt with his duty as “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen”. Read more...

After Wilson Fisk beat Matt, Foggy, Karen, and Ben to the punch and revealed himself to the New York public in the eighth episode, the foursome is now reeling and dumbfounded on what exactly to do next. However, the episode first starts out with Matt fighting a mysterious leather clad Ninja who might have ties to the mysterious group of ninja's they encountered while he and Stick came to the aid of a little boy. Matt goes to see Father Lantom to wax philosophical on his struggle with his morality and his Catholic beliefs asking him if he believes in "The Devil." Lantom's explanation is a rousing tale that even those who don't follow religion should listen to. Read more...

It is finally time for the BurnChimp to review Daredevil episode 7. Between my excitement to do so and the overwhelming task of bringing you the very best DD coverage available here on enr there is the growing thrill ride of the significance of this episode not only to Daredevil but the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The implications and insights gained through this one episode basically sets a ball rolling that is the skeleton to two movies and the biggest reveal of our hero Daredevil’s motivations. To wit, why Matt Murdock is screwed up morally and why he insists on destroying his life while being a vigilante. This episode won’t review itself… So let’s get this monkey smoking… Read more...

Welcome. If you haven’t heard Marvel’s Daredevil on NetFlix is a hit, and with good reason. From the mind-blowing pace of the first episode leaving all but a few origin details for later, to the constant flow of notable Daredevil lesser knowns the series is incredible. While I have watched the entire run it is my pleasure to review episodes 05 and 06 for you because they contain so much of what defines the characters and their ultimate motivations. It is in these episodes where bonds are made and the conclusions at series end become poignant. There are more of these series coming, we better get moving. The BurnChimp has given the signal. *WARNING! This Review contains SPOILERS! You have been warned!*   It’s 2003, and I’m in a theater watching the Daredevil movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starring Ben Affleck, his now wife Jennifer Garner and Colin Farrell as Bullseye. These were the first few years of the comic book movie era, and to be honest, I was just happy to have one of the superheroes I grew up adoring. I accepted shoddy wire work, cheesy cartoony lines and just general horrible movies because well...to me back then, a bad comic book movie was fun just for existing. Just for exposing something I grew up loving to the masses. Today, in 2015, things have changed. After such films as Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Guardians of the Galaxy, and so on....we expect more. The bar has been raised. Even now on television with such stellar shows as Walking Dead and The Flash, comic book fans just expect their characters to not only be adapted in a fashion that is faithful to the source material, but done WELL.  And Daredevil, which is now a Netflix exclusive TV series, is the perfect example of the revolution of the comic book adaptation. Quality, in every sense of the word, in every aspect of the production, is key. Read more...

11958148Hell's Kitchen will never be the same again! Marvel's Cinematic Universe is about to expand even further with their original Netflix series, Daredevil! And don't get this confused with that Ben Affleck movie...this is DD done right! Based strongly on the Frank Miller run of Daredevil comics, the series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Debra Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Scott Glen as Stick, Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley/The Owl and Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich. This is the beginning of a whole new darker era of Marvel's shared universe and we can't be more excited!  Read more...

Daredevil_18_CoverIf you know anything about me, you’d know that I was a fan of Wizard Magazine, if not that it was an actual magazine stuffed with fun articles about comics and comics related topics. It was a genuine magazine publication devoted to the stuff I loved. Wizard had letters page, top 10 lists, interviews, previews of upcoming comics and of course this cool column that I always looked forward to: Casting Call, where they would cast actors into completely fabricated comic book adapted movies. This was when comic book movies were just beginning to emerge in abundance, so this was pretty imaginative and we never really thought that any of the movies would be made...but here we are with 2 or 3 major comic book films coming out every summer! So you can imagine how happy I am to be a full-fledged comic book columnist and sort of get the chance to keep what Wizard started right here in The Bleed every week! So, the big Marvel Studios news from Marvel’s Big Shot Mega-Producer Kevin Feige this week was that the rights that 20th Century Fox had to produce Daredevil movies have expired and the rights go back to Marvel, to do with as they please.
