When you hear, Jail Bait and Trailer Trash, you might be thinking that your sister's boyfriend finally wrote his family's memoires, but it's actually something much better than that. Jail Bait and Trailer Trash is a collection of short stories in graphic novel format, written by Justin Gray. Read more...

There’s no way to keep this spoiler-free so if you haven’t watched episode 21 of Gotham and don’t want anything spoiled come back and read this after you’ve watched it. Hugo Strange has been manufacturing monsters at Indian Hill and from what we’ve seen he’s been very successful. Unfortunately, everybody has a boss and Strange’s boss considers his accomplishments to be unsuccessful. It has to do with what a lot of people are disliking about Strange, he’s creating these villains.  He brings them back to life and then implants a false memory that will ultimately serve him.  It was getting sad to think that Strange would be the creator of all of Gotham’s supervillains. That turned out to be Strange’s agenda but not his boss’s. So who is Strange’s boss? Perhaps it’s more appropriate to say bosses. Read more...

477_FifthSet_still_magazinesThis is officially the last DarXide column that you’ll ever read. This year that is. The end of a year that has seen many ups and downs just in the comic book world alone. Scandals, rumors, back stabbing and a dead Peter Parker. Yes, the world of comic books had some major downers this year but here are four books that did not disappoint and will hopefully continue to be great in the coming year.   Read more...

nova 7 cropBright Young Stars It’s great watching new characters develop as I continue to read comics. While the two main publishing houses continually strive to reinvent themselves, one of the key problems they face is how do you keep things fresh? How many times can you write an original plot? How many characters eventually replicate each others powers? Of course, that’s not to say that popular characters don’t work – that’s why they’re popular – it’s just hard to try and keep them from growing stagnant. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to pass on the baton to someone else. That way, the character or alter-ego remains the same, while the personality can often be allowed to be radically different. Look at the Death of Bruce Wayne for instance. I cite this saga a lot but when Dick Grayson took up the Mantle of the Bat, the character was invigorated and the evolution of Batman was complete. It seemed a backwards step bringing Bruce Wayne back as the Caped Crusader but, as Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have proved over the last two years, there’s only one Dark Knight Detective. batwing ASince FCBD, I started picking up new comic book titles. I was pretty committed to DC before as I am (and will be for the foreseeable future) a huge advocate the New 52 universe. It excited me and made me interested in my favorite characters in a completely new way. I ate up most of the Green Lantern titles, Earth 2 and the re-imagining of the Justice League. Read more...

GB lead March is full of surprises and this week is no exception. I’ve been seeing the big things IDW has been cooking up and I had been hesitant in picking up an issue until I saw this beauty come across the review desk – Ghostbusters. I about did a back flip as I had always wanted to see a new take on the original comic pubbed by Caputo’s NOW COMICS back in the day. Once I saw that #2 was out and about I had to find something that was worthy of such a legacy and I believed I’ve found the right opponent in Trigger Girl 6 #1. Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto working on book with a gun-toting mysterious babe on the front – done deal! So I offer you this epic TITLE FIGHT Ghostbusters #2 vs. Trigger Girl 6 #1. KERRRAAAAANNNG! Annnnd What’s New With You? As always you can find these titles and so much more including toys, posters, and apparel – all comics – all the time only at eXpertcomics.com!   Read more...

by Rob Richardson jonah-hexHow the West was won… There are three things that are guaranteed to pique my interest when it comes to comic books; Jason Todd, giant transforming robots and cowboys. firing up the generators… That’s a wild mix but one that has a multiple share of rewards. tachyons accelerating… The Bat-brat has become a far more interesting character since his resurrection; an anti-hero who runs from danger to danger and is constantly on the cusp of losing his grip on everything. configuring… Giant, transforming robots?
