I was recently drawn into a thread on Facebook that asked if we thought that the Atom was/is a "B-Lister" character. My EXACT response to this--"I do NOT find the Atom, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Zatanna, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Elongated Man, Aquaman or the Martian Manhunter to be ANYTHING but A-Listers!" My readers have heard me speak reverently several times in the past about the Rock Bottom Bookshop, which I frequented in my childhood. We comic book fans of a certain era, pre-comic shops, and WAY before Previews, you could never be sure that you would get the books that you wanted. That is why I loved going to the Rock Bottom! The Rock Bottom, an institution in our town nowadays, was founded and managed by Ms. Wilda (NOT Wilma) Hardin. Read more...

A time ago, I took the time to get you readers excited for 2017 by revealing a number of female-led anime coming out in the winter anime season of the year, which already started. Hopefully, you are finding what you anticipated to see. Well, enough of anime. It is time to turn our attention to American science-fiction. No year of entertainment is ever exciting without anything to offer from one of the greatest genres in all media. This year however, the fun begins in February, thus my reason for not starting this a few weeks ago. So without further ado, I reveal in what will be my final column for ENR, 12 things from American sci-fi that are bound to make 2017 super for all you genre fans out there. So buckle up and enjoy the ride. Engage! Read more...

I covered DC Comic's LEGENDS #1 last week. This week, I will be covering issue #2 of the series !! Legends #2 starts off with Gwyneth Tate, a newswoman who is reporting on the incineration of Macro Man .by Captain Marvel. G. Gordon Godfrey "happens" to be on the scene for an interview. Godfrey bemoans the "Rise of the Super Hero" who he claims will bring about society's downfall. "Today's high powered world is too sophisticated, too complicated, simply too dangerous for such a outdated notion as the Heroic Ideal!" Read more...

In case you missed last time's episode of Arrow, here is a recap for you. Oliver Queen/Arrow and John Diggle managed to bring Malcolm Merlyn back to Starling City from Nanda Parbat alive after Oliver refused Ra's Al Ghul's offer to name him the next head of the League of Assassins. Unfortunately, Oliver started to wonder if his refusing to accept the offer was a bad decision when the League of Assassins leader's prediction of  the Arrow's tragic fate started to come true, especially with the part where Captain Quentin Lance of the Starling City Police Department ended up cutting ties with the Archer super-hero himself out of bitterness over his daughter Laurel's and the Arrow's decision to hide the truth about Laurel's sister Sara Lance's death from him. admin-ajax.phpIt is that time yet again. It is hard to believe yet another month has passed and here I am working on yet another Top 20 list. I realize that I am a month behind, but you know what I mean. I talk a lot about surprises and sometimes the lack of them, this month has a new wrinkle and looking at the overall picture and what the Big 2 have been up to for the last few years it could be a bigger wrinkle than it appears to be for now. I will get to that, but there are other things that happened this month that bring up some red flags too. One is the comparisons..and by that I mean it isn't pretty. The other is how far a few companies fell from last month to this. I guess that is enough of a tease, strap it on and let's get started.   Read more...
