I have written twice before of the days in which a comics collector would have to go to several stores in order to get their favored books. I have thus far written about four such places, some better than others. But THIS time, I will be writing about the very BEST convenience stores in which I found my books!! Read more...

Gotham is the city we all know and love. We know it as the city where Bruce Wayne was born and the city he was born to protect. It’s the city filled with mystery, crime, gangsters, villains, corruption and that small sliver of hope. Gotham is also the name of a television show that may have just taken the city of Gotham a bit too far. Read more...

What do you get when you combine the biggest stars of the 70’s and mix them with a Great Dane? No, not a genetic monster that eats award shows. No, not a dog that beats up paparazzi. You get The New Scooby-Doo Movies from 1972-74 and one of the most memorable cartoons of the last 50 years. The concept was simple – have the mystery revolve around a celebrity and have the celebrity do the voice over. But in its simplicity a marvelous thing happened, the staying power of Scooby – Doo was etched in stone and the audience for Scooby-Doo grew past a child audience. So buckle up and let your memories flow as we look at the top 3 episodes ranked by me. Read more...

If The Dog Will Hunt...Kill Everything I can't believe it's Friday already, it must be though because I have a disco song going through my head and visions of people roller skating (the kind with four wheels) to the big funky beat. This week on Retro..Retro..Retrovision I have the Hanna-Barbera formula, and the cartoons that used it. If you don't know what the formula I'm talking about, you weren't paying attention in the 1970's. That's actually forgivable considering everything that happened during that most groovy of decades. The formula somewhat based on H&B's first big teen hit the Archie's, was this. Get a group of teenagers, get a dog, get a mystery, get clues, solve mystery, dog does or says something funny the end. This was best done by Scooby-Doo and the gang, and they did it so well that Hanna-Barbera just kept doing it. The funny thing is it should have got old, and actually in some cases it did, but others ran with it, although none of the cartoons we will be looking at today ever had the success that the Great Dane and Mystery Inc. did. So here we go, grab your magnifying glass, get out the van. dune buggy, or whatever you're driving, and let's look back at H&B teen teams! Read more...
