So a few weeks back I made a list of the Greatest Marvel Cartoons Of All Time, and it was so fun and popular I thought I would give it a shot for the other team, DC Comics. And let’s be honest, this is going to be the most difficult list to put together!! Read more...

It has been a glorious start to the second season of Supergirl. With the big bang two-part premiere over and Superman back to Metropolis, it is time to lay the flesh on the skeleton created the previous two weeks. While episode 3 is still clearly setting up the new season it is here, more than the premiere the real seeds for what is to come are sown. Last week, we established the overall theme of this season to be change and the consequences of gaining your own voice and we said goodbye to Cat Grant. This week we delve into a plethora of Easter Eggs, new characters - beloved and well-known - as well as explore the themes and content of Welcome To Earth. Read more...

Welcome back to our weekly journey through the television episodic goodness that is Supergirl which airs on Monday nights. In the offseason Supergirl changed networks, leaving CBS and joining the Arrow-verse on the network’s sister station, CW. Changes often bring turmoil to a series and this season they have added Superman to the premieres further risking the Kara character to receding back into the shadow of her cousin. After watching the first two episodes (the said two-part premiere) I was both thrilled and horrified, warmed with joy and overcome with sadness. This alone would me Supergirl a great viewing experience, but the golden lining of this series isn’t in what they give you up front but their strict adherence to thematic device. Read more...

Now this is more like it, I say! This time, we get a sympathetic "villain". Man Of Steel starts off with with a nice touch on the cover. Whereas the other covers have all depicted that issues "Star", this cover shows the character FROM THE BACK (this is reminiscent of the movie "Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff. The first time we see the Frankenstein Monster, the creature comes through the doorway BACKWARDS! I do not know if this was intentional or not. But like I said, if it was, it was a nice touch)! A lot can happen in two weeks. By that I mean, in a week off from broadcast our favorite CBS hero has been renewed for a second season causing a collective sigh across fandom and this week on the show the plot advances so fast with so much content it feels like five or six episodes…or part one of a season finale (which this very much is). When Supergirl aired its pilot back in September the world had no idea just how great the show would grow to be. In eighteen episodes the new CBS sci-fi working girl drama has become one of the most daring, fun and Silver Age dimension of the DCTVU. The network and audience was a perfect pairing and the attraction to longtime fans of classic tropes done in fresh and new interesting ways was not foreseen. Without question it is the best first season of the DCTVU and that includes the defunct and critically acclaimed Constantine and the new Legends of Tomorrow (though to be fair it is only ten episodes in or so). There was no new episode for Supergirl this week, and while the sadness lingers from this new joy has arisen. The new promotional art released today for the March 28th Supergirl/Flash crossover is almost the most exciting news surrounding the show. Almost. What thrills the nerves and stimulates the cortex is the announcement that Supergirl is getting a season 2. While we don’t know for sure what the rest of season one holds it is still a fan exercise to create a wish list for next season. Read more...
