WARNING: There are spoilers in this article.  Even though we’ve added the obligatory spoiler warning, I’ll find it hard to believe that there are many people who miss this show on the day it airs. In fact, if you are starting to read this and you HAVEN’T seen this episode then you need to stop and come back in sixty minutes. Right, you’ve made it back. Wiped your eyes? Staring into the distance in disbelief? Trying hard not to crush inanimate objects due to Throne Rage? Yep, we’re all there with you in amazement of the series finale of season five (and a little in despair… OK, a lot in despair…). Read more...

“Trial by combat, deciding a man’s guilt or innocence in the eyes of the gods by having two men hack each other to pieces. It tells you something about the gods.” – Tyrion Lannister   Game_of_thrones-logo   One of the key principles you have to understand when venturing into Game of Thrones is that NO ONE is safe. Nobody. Doesn’t matter how popular they are, how famous the actor is that is playing them or if you’re absolutely sure you’ve figured out how integral they are to the plot. The only real guarantee is that you can predict absolutely nothing (unless you’ve read the books, of course, and fair play to you for that). Read more...

“Careful, I’m the last friend you’ve got.” – Jaime Lannister   Game_of_thrones-logo   Season four of this stellar show continues with one of strongest runs of story content and character development since the opening series. We find Tyrion languishing in his cell and Peter Dinklage, yet again, puts him through more emotional difficulty. He portrays the angst and nervousness well – masterfully disguising it enough so as Tyrion does not appear weak – and the vulnerability of the ever confident man begins to show through the cracks.   Read more...

“A man with no motive is a man no one suspects. Always keep your foes confused. If they don’t know who you are or what you want, they can’t know what you plan to do next.” – Littlefinger   Game_of_thrones-logo   This episode of Game of Thrones was really random at times and seemed to jump around characters for dull but lasting exposition and some scenery-chewing that was worthy of Michael Shannon’s General Zod.   Read more...

Episode 4.1: Two Swords “Tell your father I am here and tell him the Lannisters aren’t the only ones who pay their debts.” Game-of-Thrones-Title-Logo-HD-Wallpaper_Vvallpaper.NetThat time of year has approached again; a time that we all shut ourselves off from the internet to avoid spoilers, look at casual viewers smugly if we’ve read the books or get ready for the next unexpected and horrific death of another of our favourites characters (especially if we haven’t read the books!) – Game of Thrones Season Four has arrived! In particularly spectacular fashion, the episode opened to show us Tywin Lannister having Ice, the broadsword of Ned Stark, smelted down to forge two blades – one for his returned son, Jaime and the other, smaller blade’s bearer is, as yet, unknown (possibly a wedding gift for Joffrey?). The opener is incredibly well shot, the light emanating from the forge casting grim shadows around a scene that seems to declare the Starks are finally done for.   Read more...
