I don’t make it a secret. I’m a huge X-Men fan. Have been my whole life. Ever since first seeing the team’s guest appearance on the Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends cartoon when I was very young, I was very enamoured by the team. At first it was the original Beast that caught my eye. A superhero with huge, goofy ape feet? Crazy! Weird! I loved the originality. Then it was me “stealing” my big brother’s Uncanny X-Men comics from his stash (even though I was too young to even know how to read) and seeing these lavish, out-there costumes and characters that in any other superhero story would probably be the villains. Nightcrawler, Rogue, Storm (with the mohawk, of course), Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Summers....and of course, Wolverine. They were so cool beyond words. They were edgy and gritty and never ever got a break in the world, but that never stopped them from being heroes. I was born without the ability to walk and I identified with these heroes who were also born a little different. Their leader was in a wheelchair. I was and will be bonded to the X-Men forever. This year's editions of San-Diego Comic-Con, Montreal Comiccon, and Otakuthon respectively maybe over a while ago, but this year's summer season of genre conventions still goes on with another season of events to begin soon. I am sure some of you readers had a good time attending whatever nearby genre con in your local area happened so far, and some of you have genre convention events to look forward to. Well, awesome! It was ComicCon time in my hometown of Montreal once again and it was the biggest event ever! More than 50,000 fans came out to let their geek flag fly and it was once again an exciting show! Much more space, more vendors a bigger Artists Alley and an awesome atmosphere that for the first time I saw many celebs like John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow), Michael Rooker (of Guardians of the Galaxy and Walking Dead) and more walking the con floor and taking in the show (I myself had some fun moments with the celebs, more on that later). I of course had my adventures taking pics of the thousands of fun cosplays this year and yet again, it's time for my Annual Cosplay Parade!  Read more...

Welcome back to the what's hot and what's not list. Due to “coverage” of recent events that have been brought up in the media, over and over and over again, we are now starting off the list with a warning. For anyone who does not have a sense of humor, or lost their sense of humor or perhaps the sense of humor is off on holiday, stop reading this right now. The following is only intended for immature audiences, people who have a sense of humor and all around fun people. Read more...

So, it all but looks like the Marvel Universe will be getting the do-over treatment once their mega-event Secret Wars comes to its conclusion. Which could be called a bit redundant, since DC Comics did it not even 5 years ago. But I personally always choose to look at the situation “glass half full”, and absolutely refuse to see ONLY the bad effects from flushing away decades of continuity in one fell swoop (actually, I already did that in another column months ago). After all, it’s now happening no matter what. I might as well look forward to the ushering in of a whole new age of Marvel comics! More importantly, a whole new era for creators who may have never even gotten the chance to work on certain titles a chance to start from scratch and rebuild these heroes from the ground up.
