Just recently, Warner Bros. And DC Entertainment released the controversial superhero film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which marked the first time in the history of live-action screen productions that Superman and Batman appear together in the same production. While I have not yet seen this duel-themed film, it still remains in my "must-see" list of movies as I remain curious about how far each of these two famous superheroes would go to defeat the other. A coincidence about Batman v. Superman's release is that it happened in the same screen season when WrestleMania 32 took place (it aired on PPV by the way) and when another versus-themed movie Justice League vs. Teen Titans got released. It looks like we are in a major season of versus mania on both big and small screens, and there is no doubt that it will continue with the release of Captain America: Civil War, which will see Captain America battling Iron Man. As the NFL Super Bowl celebrates its 50 year existence, we must all rejoice (and admit) in the fact that this is the ONE sporting event that almost ALL of us tune into, whether we are sports fans or not. The food, the camaraderie, the food, the commercials, the half-time show, the food, and of course, the foo-I mean, THE GAME! Can’t forget THAT! I admit, I don’t follow football as close as some guys, but I respect it...I enjoy it when I do catch a game, and I’ve definitely played Madden a few times in my day, so that counts for something! And I love me a good Super Bowl! Read more...

Are you ready for more Daredevil on Netflix?! Season 2 is steadily approaching! And by the looks of the new teaser trailer, which is animated to look quite similar to Alex Maleev's artwork in the award winning Brian Michael Bendis run, it's going to be another amazing season. Read more...

It’s not every day that I get to interview a talent artist who should be working for one of the big comic book publishers, let alone be friends with one for over a decade. Tim Doyle is an underrated force in the world of comic book and pop culture art and has been running Nakatomi for almost seven years. He’s come a long way since working at Funny Papers, a now defunct comic book store that was located in Dobie Mall on the edge of campus at the University of Texas. I recently caught up with him after a couple of years at the Austin Comic Con in Austin, TX and talked shop and what’s on his current pull list. Read more...

Now everyone knows I’m a pretty avid wrestling fan, maybe not as much of a comic book enthusiast, but both genres are pretty close to my heart. I’ve made many comparisons that they aren’t really as different as people think they are. There’s daring heroes, and evil villains, intriguing and sometimes unbelievable stories and mythologies...tights. There’s a lot of tights in both comics and wrestling. So every so often, usually right before a big WWE wrestling event, I enjoy writing an edition of FPB devoted to the squared circle! I figured since Survivor Series is here (for those who don’t know, it’s one of WWE’s oldest events that 5-on-5 elimination style tag matches), it would be a fine time to do just that! Read more...

The comic world is mourning the loss of a dear legend. Herb Trimpe was credited with illustrating many memorable stories over his 45 year career for many different publishers including Marvel, IDW and Dark Horse on such titles as G.I. Joe, Iron Man, Defenders and Rawhide Kid. Most notably, Herb is known for pencilling Incredible Hulk #180, which is regarded as the first full appearance of one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, Wolverine. Read more...

lindsay-lohan-photoshopWelcome back to the what’s hot and what’s not list for this week. It’s Friday the 13th, again. Doesn’t it feel like we just had a Friday the 13th movie marathon recently? Yea, that’s because we did, just a month ago. Jason Voorhees sure has been soaking up a lot of attention lately. Evidently this makes Lindsay Lohan jealous so she took to Instagram and posted a really weird “photoshopped” picture that has everyone talking. But enough about that train wreck there’s a rumor going around the Shia LaBeouf is engaged, but we’ll wait until he sends the official announcement via skywriter. When most people “photoshop” a picture of themselves it’s usually to hide a blemish or make them look thinner, something that people are trying to figure out if that’s what Lohan was doing. Well, this little guy didn’t have that option. Read more...

3802601-2447916540-35805Do you smell what Black Adam is cookin’? Among all of the crazy news this week what with the passing of yet another legend of comedy (R.I.P. Joan Rivers), nearly every young female celebrity’s naughty pictures getting leaked onto the internet and Cee-Lo Green making us want to delete all of our Gnarls Barkley records, some of you may have missed the bit of GREAT news that broke. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Warner Bros. finally confirmed that the big role that he has landed for a big DC Comics film was indeed Black Adam in a (also confirmed) Shazam live action feature film! This is something the fans have wanted for quite some time, seeing as Black Adam is quite a cult favorite and is a perfect role for the "People’s Champ". Adam is a former Egyptian pharaoh and has disdain for all he encounters. He believes he is better than everyone and isn’t shy about saying it or showing it. Read more...
