A hundred years is a long time!
In 1915, there were many major events of note: The President was Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat who was keeping the US out of the World War in Europe. The British Ocean Liner, the Lusitania, was sunk by a German submarine (1,195 people lost their lives.128 of those were American citizens). Filmmaker D.W.Griffith released "Birth Of A Nation", and Boston Red Socks won the World Series.
It was into this turbulent world, on June 19th of 1915, that a baby was born who would grow up to have a tremendous and lasting impact on the world of fandom, and the world of comic books! The baby's name was Julius "Julie" Schwartz. June 19th of 2015 would have been Schwartz' ONE HUNDRETH birthday, and it is hard to imagine how different the world of comics (and of fandom in general) would have been had he not existed.
