Toronto-based Chapterhouse Comics is a fairly new company in the comic book publishing game, but they are taking full initiative with what they want to do. And that is bring homegrown Canadian comic books to the world. They’ve begun with Captain Canuck and Northguard, which had already existed and were published independently for decades, and has continued with new modern heroes like The Pitiful Human Lizard and Die Kitty Die! Comic book publishing isn’t an easy thing these days, but Chapterhouse has some star power behind them. Namely in the form of their Chief Creative Officer, Hollywood actor Jay Baruchel (and my fellow Montrealer), star of Tropic Thunder, This Is The End and Disney’s The Sorceror’s Apprentice. Jay is not only the CCO, he is also the writer of Captain Canuck: Year One, a new series that reboots Comely’s unapologetically (for a change) Canadian superhero from the ground up and for a new audience. EX3-PosterThe boys are back, and the firepower has just about run out. It’s best to end a good movie franchise while it’s still watchable, and Expendables 3 is just barely making the cut. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun time at the movies, but we have a whole new wave of action stars on the horizon and they seem to be handling things quite well. We now have Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Jason Mamoa and we can safely now add Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista to that list. Those guys are ready to take over as the action stars for the next few decades or so. Read more...

punisher_logoPunishment is a funny thing. It can come in all forms and sizes. Not like clothes sizes but the amount of punishment that is dealt out or can be taken. When you are a child you find punishment to be horrible, a simple grounding, a spanking (heaven forbid), or having something taken away can ruin your life for up to 20 minutes or at least until it's realized it's not the end of the world. In the adult world punishment can be losing your job, or a letter in your file. Then there is MMA punishment where two guys beat the living daylights out of each other for a belt. Sometimes though punishment can come in the form of movies, as in it was punishing to sit the entire way through the movie, or the name of the movie is Punisher. It's kind of the same thing. Today we look at the Punisher movies, some one light that candle! Read more...
