Wow! What an upgrade from that mess a couple of years ago. Here we have the sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2014 from Michael Bay's production company. That movie was hot, hot garbage to me. THIS movie was a much better improvement. Read more...

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn?! It looks like Leo, Donnie, Mikey and Raph will have no sleep 'til June! Because that's when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits theaters!  We've got a brand new trailer that shows a lot more of the mutant baddies, Bebop & Rocksteady (played by Gary Anthony Williams & WWE's Sheamus respectively), a bit more of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and even the Turtles' arch-nemesis, Shredder (it looks like we have a newer, younger Shredder in Brian Tee)! “Run and tell your leaders this is their last warning. Either obey Master Shredder… Or face all-out war.” - Leonardo When IDW Publishing re-launched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line, I knew I had nothing to worry about. They have successfully handled licensed franchises such as Transformers and Ghostbusters and launched them as high-end titles which have been able to hold their own against the plethora of superhero books on shelves. The origins of the major characters have been tweaked, modernizing them but keep enough of their original roots to make them instantly identifiable. The most important aspect, and one which is integral to the success of any iteration of the TMNT line, is keeping the emphasis on family; notably the relationship between Master Splinter (as sensei and father) and his four sons; Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello. alan-hale-jrA tropical island, surrounded by water. A thin young man in a white hat and wearing a red rugby shirt emits a mighty yell: "SKIPPPPERRRRR!!" That's right! It is one of many MANY great scenes that TV viewers all over the world can recognize: Gilligan's Island! And, the part of the Skipper was played to perfection by a man named Hale. Alan Hale -- The Skipper. Hale was born Alan Hale MacKahan, son of Rufus Edward MacKahan, who performed on stage under the name of "Alan Hale". His mother, Gretchen Hertman, was a silent film actress. He was born on March 8th, 1921. During World War 2, Hale served with the United States Coast Guard. Hale was married twice, the first time on March 12th 1943, in Hollywood to a Bettina Doerr. The couple had four children, Alan Brian, Chris, Lana, and Dorian. The couple later divorced. In 1964, Hale married former singer Naomi "Trinket" Ingram. The couple would remain married until Alan Hale's death. When his father, Alan Hale Senior died in 1950, Hale dropped the "Jr." from his name. Read more...

mikeyIt seems this hot August weekend belonged to the Heroes on a Halfshell, as the Michael Bay produced and Jonathan Liebsman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film finally hits theaters this weekend. The big budget 3D reboot stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and Johnny Knoxville as the voice of Leonardo. I got a chance to check it out, an y’know what? After all the internet scrutiny and negativity surrounded the dreaded “alien” Turtles was actually a decent, fun, entertaining summer afternoon flick! Though if you’re still all hyper over Guardians of the Galaxy, just go and see that again, because GotG is the superior movie on all levels. But without comparing the two vastly different films, TMNT does hold up on its own and like Bay’s Transformers films, it makes up for in style where it lacks in substance. And there's absolutely NO aliens involved whatsoever! The screenplay was clearly re-written and Bay opened his silly mouth way too soon. Read more...
