Welcome to the midseason finale. Midseason finales are horrible and there probably isn't a person alive who prefers for a show to start and stop like this. Could you imagine if a sport did this? Seriously, if baseball started in April and went for a month then they took the month of May off and came back in June. Who would even be interested in what's happening? In most cases mid-season finales could be told to go kick rocks but this one kind feels nice. We need a short break from the crazy in Gotham and there is a lot of it in this episode. Read more...

Since the beginning of time we've had tales of good versus evil. These stories always seem to work. You choose a side to cheer for and see how it unfolds. Usually the good prevails and sometimes evil wins, ensuring that another good guy will come along to try and save the day. The story of good vs. evil brings us all of the elements we need to keep us entertained. Hope, anger, fear, love and all of those other adjectives that one would use to describe it. So how do you describe it when it's evil versus evil or good versus good? Is it possible to have a good guy against a good guy or bad against bad? Wouldn't one of them have to assume the other role? This week's episode of Gotham brings forth this very question. Let's see if it gave us any answers. Read more...

In the last episode, we saw Barnes murder at least two men. Alice Tetch’s blood has turned him into some crazed vigilante. When he “switches” he becomes judge, jury and executioner. He’s on a mission to find all of the guilty in Gotham. Unfortunately, Dr. Simon didn’t die before he could tell newly reinstated GCPD officer, Jim Gordon, that Barnes was responsible for throwing him through a wall. Read more...

Last week’s episode we saw the outcome of Tetch’s mind games and the fate of his sister. We also witnessed the bromance blossom between Penguin and Nygma.  Who would have ever thought these two would hit it off so well?  This week we were in for a romantic regalement Gotham style. Read more...

Here we are, season three episode four of Gotham.  It’s funny how a show that’s basically about Batman but has no Batman in it could have come this far. We truly have the villains to thank for that. Batman’s main villains are taking the spotlight while we wait for Bruce Wayne to become Gotham’s greatest detective. We met the latest villain, Jervis Tetch/Mad Hatter, in the last episode. Now that we’re all back from our little trip to Switzerland we can get back to Gotham.  Forever ago we left Gotham in a bit of a mess. Jim Gordon finally caught Hugo Strange with a basement full of monsters at Indian Hill. Unfortunately, it was too late for Strange to blow them up, Fish Mooney helped them all escape. While Fish was setting the former Arkham inmates free Penguin and Butch were teaming up again to take back the title of King of Gotham, or just the best dynamic duo we’re probably going to get in this series. We were also introduced to the Court of Owls last season and best yet we caught a glimpse of a look-a-like Bruce Wayne.  Season three episode one has a lot to live up to. Read more...

Episode 20 of Gotham had all the makings of a blockbuster action movie. If this was 1998. Still, that’s pretty good for a television show about supervillains and no superhero. From start to finish this episode was fun to watch, even with the bad actors. By now everyone should know that Theo Galavan has been reanimated by Hugo Strange.  During the process Theo forgot who he was and needed a new purpose in life so Strange implanted the idea that Theo is now Azrael and his mission is to kill Jim Gordon. He has so far been unsuccessful in his mission but Gordon isn’t waiting around for the day that he is. He enlists the help of Theo’s sister Tabitha.  Tabitha knows where Azrael’s sword and all its mystical powers is.  Cue the bad acting scenes. This part, like a 90s action movie, is predictable. Now that there’s been a full week to digest the fact that Jerome is not the Joker and come to a good realization that the writers for Gotham are cleverer than most thought, this week the show got back to being a good old cop show. Season two, episode four is titled “Strike Force” and with good reason. No, it’s not 2069 and aliens haven’t invaded Earth, that’s the Marvel universe, we’re still in DC here. Strike force is the name given to the newest recruits to the Gotham GCPD. Michael Chiklis made his debut as Captain Nathanial Barnes and his first mission as captain was to get rid of the crooked cops. He fired every cop who had a criminal record and made threats to get rid of any other cops that do funny business. That should make Jim Gordon sweat a little bit but for now Barnes makes Gordon his second in command. Together they go to the academy and handpick new recruits. Read more...
