Injustice: Gods Among Us was only just the beginning. NetherRealm, the same video game studio that develops the Mortal Kombat series has yet another blockbuster Fighter franchise on their hands. Injustice delves into an alternate DC Universe where Earth’s greatest hero, Superman, becomes the type of tyrannical villain he was once sworn to oppose after he executes The Joker. The snowball effect of that event creates a world where our heroes and villains are drastically changed and the status quo of the DC Universe is flipped upside down. The first game’s story mode had the heroes of a more familiar Earth come to help Batman’s rebels battle Superman’s regime, but this new installment shows us the aftermath of that story. A new threat emerges as Brainiac (who is responsible for the destruction of Krypton in this reality) attacks Earth’s cities and enlists the world’s vilest menaces to aide him. Read more...

arrow-logo-imgIn case you missed last time’s episode of the television series Arrow, let me give you a recap. The Arrow and company received a visit from Ra’s Al Ghul’s assassin daughter Nyssa, who came to Starling City to assassinate Malcolm Merlyn on allegations that he murdered Sara Lance (also known as “Canary”). As The Arrow was willing to protect Malcolm from Nyssa, Starling City police officer Laurel Lance’s desire for her to avenge Sara’s death resulted in Oliver’s half-sister Thea getting kidnapped by the assassin, but The Arrow succeeded in saving both Malcolm and Thea from death and vowed to prevent Ra’s Al Ghul’s league of assassins from laying their deadly hands on Malcolm. Now, time for me to comment on the 11/05/2014 Arrow episode “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak” in this weekly Arrow edition.   Read more...

spybird2Let’s get this Friday the 13th edition of the hot or not list started and unfortunately it has to start in true Friday the 13th fashion. Remember that spy bird, that was just a stork with a tracking device, but the Egyptian powers that be could not release it pending prosecution? Unfortunately the latest word on the bird is that it passed away. An Egyptian wildlife group claims that the villagers ate the bird, but another person denied that and claimed the death could not be explained. It’s OK; it’s still unexplainable why some people like to eat sardines out of a can. Read more...

man-of-steel-poster2-200x200The release of the third trailer for the Man of Steel has caused a massive S storm on the net. Folks we seldom hear from and those that always have an opinion have come out to tell everyone why this movie is going to suck or put the Man of Steel on the map again. I get it, really I do, from both sides. I understand why the haters are hating and I understand why folks are excited to see the "new" Superman movie. What I don't get is the venom that is being used on both side of the argument. Do we really think the folks that think this movie is going to suck harder than a Hoover vacuum are dullards? Do we really think the folks who are excited that Supes is once again going to be on the big screen are Kool-Aid drinking sheep? Read more...

It’s not just an ‘S’ You must have been living in a box or locked in the wood shed if you missed the biggest trailer of the week – Man of Steel received its full theatrical trailer and boy, was it a doozy!   MofS6   I’ll be honest; I was interested in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot when I had seen the initial teaser but nothing really grabbed me. It was Superman. It was different but what was this movie going to bring to the table? What was it going to offer to the already established Man of Tomorrow cinematic universe that we haven’t already seen?   Read more...

SDA lot of fan-made films and trailers have been popping up lately. Usually I enjoy the ones that are independent productions with actors and original scripts. Sometimes you get the ones where someone takes clips and scenes from various films and someone edits them together, usually pretty lazily. But now and then, it is done right. This is the case with Superman: Doomsday, a 3 part fan film where an anonymous fan with the handle "kashchei2003" recreates the classic Death of Superman storyline from the 90's. kashchei2003 (or kash as I will now call him), took scenes from Superman Returns casting Brandon Routh as Superman in his story, and re-animated The Hulk from various movies as Doomsday. In an ingenious casting decision, we have the beautiful Kate Beckinsale as Lois Lane! Read more...
