Here we are again! It's another year and another Montreal Comiccon! The one weekend of the year where I, your Bleeder King, join my fellow fanboys, geek girls and genre aficionados in my hometown gather together and revel in what makes us awesome! This year is my 5th annual time at the event, so it's quite special! As always I will bring you some of the coolest interviews (I MEAN COOL....I'M NOT KIDDING!) and experiences in the coming weeks! But first, as always, I bring my collection of the finest cosplays I ran into at the con. Everything from comics, to video games to movies were represented and this year I must say, Montreal upped its game with cosplays that were just unbelievable!! Read more...

Wow! What an upgrade from that mess a couple of years ago. Here we have the sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2014 from Michael Bay's production company. That movie was hot, hot garbage to me. THIS movie was a much better improvement. Read more...

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn?! It looks like Leo, Donnie, Mikey and Raph will have no sleep 'til June! Because that's when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits theaters!  We've got a brand new trailer that shows a lot more of the mutant baddies, Bebop & Rocksteady (played by Gary Anthony Williams & WWE's Sheamus respectively), a bit more of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and even the Turtles' arch-nemesis, Shredder (it looks like we have a newer, younger Shredder in Brian Tee)! “Run and tell your leaders this is their last warning. Either obey Master Shredder… Or face all-out war.” - Leonardo When IDW Publishing re-launched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line, I knew I had nothing to worry about. They have successfully handled licensed franchises such as Transformers and Ghostbusters and launched them as high-end titles which have been able to hold their own against the plethora of superhero books on shelves. The origins of the major characters have been tweaked, modernizing them but keep enough of their original roots to make them instantly identifiable. The most important aspect, and one which is integral to the success of any iteration of the TMNT line, is keeping the emphasis on family; notably the relationship between Master Splinter (as sensei and father) and his four sons; Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello. mikeyIt seems this hot August weekend belonged to the Heroes on a Halfshell, as the Michael Bay produced and Jonathan Liebsman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film finally hits theaters this weekend. The big budget 3D reboot stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and Johnny Knoxville as the voice of Leonardo. I got a chance to check it out, an y’know what? After all the internet scrutiny and negativity surrounded the dreaded “alien” Turtles movie...it was actually a decent, fun, entertaining summer afternoon flick! Though if you’re still all hyper over Guardians of the Galaxy, just go and see that again, because GotG is the superior movie on all levels. But without comparing the two vastly different films, TMNT does hold up on its own and like Bay’s Transformers films, it makes up for in style where it lacks in substance. And there's absolutely NO aliens involved whatsoever! The screenplay was clearly re-written and Bay opened his silly mouth way too soon. Read more...

mega 3It’s a great feeling lifting a comic book from the shelf and then getting it home and having all your expectations changed. We’re in a modern age of re-invention where the characters that we thought we knew have been given an overhaul and modern sensibilities. DC has done it with the New 52. Marvel has done it with Marvel NOW! IDW continue onwards and upwards with Transformers: Regeneration One, The New Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What they all have in common is that they’ve taken what has already been established, stripped it down to its core value and then given it a modern lick of paint. Nothing has been more thrilling in the last two years than seeing the Justice League take on Atlantis, Thanos strike down the human race or Leonardo defect to the Foot Clan and wreak havoc across Manhattan. All three publishers took our expectations and blew them out of the water. Yes, there have been stops and starts along the way but overall, the last few years in comic books have been pretty awesome for our established heroes. Read more...
