Injustice: Gods Among Us was only just the beginning. NetherRealm, the same video game studio that develops the Mortal Kombat series has yet another blockbuster Fighter franchise on their hands. Injustice delves into an alternate DC Universe where Earth’s greatest hero, Superman, becomes the type of tyrannical villain he was once sworn to oppose after he executes The Joker. The snowball effect of that event creates a world where our heroes and villains are drastically changed and the status quo of the DC Universe is flipped upside down. The first game’s story mode had the heroes of a more familiar Earth come to help Batman’s rebels battle Superman’s regime, but this new installment shows us the aftermath of that story. A new threat emerges as Brainiac (who is responsible for the destruction of Krypton in this reality) attacks Earth’s cities and enlists the world’s vilest menaces to aide him. Read more...

Time once again to delve into the episodic superhero phenomenon called The Flash and I am pleased to be your guide once again. So far this season we have seen the emergence of 52 parallel realities called the multiverse, learned Iris’ mom is still alive and has a son as well. We have seen countless times the skeletal structure of the show fleshed out with new villains like Atom Smasher, Zoom, Dr. Light and even a few parallel world heroes like Jay Garrick. We have seen in just five episodes that a new love for Barry and a new partner for Joe are one in the same and named Patty Spivot and she is the grounding force for Barry that Iris and Linda could not produce in prior experiences. Go ahead and get started binge watch the first season again. Maybe you can make it by Tuesday. With the zest for continual one-upmanship of Califonication and the vigor for immersive left turns reminiscent of the second season of Dexter THE FLASH continues to give concrete evidence it is vying for the elite spot in the annals of comic TV history – neck and neck with Daredevil as deep and full of heart yet standing apart starkly against the Marvel alleys and dark fire escapes is a straightforward insistence on hope and light – because it is fun. Because you can care for these characters fairly safely without fear of being let down (looking at you Walking Dead and Game of Thrones) you can also relax and let yourself be entertained while you enjoy the investment.
