I’ve been wanting to do this column for weeks now, and in that amount of time some interesting developments have happened to the solo Batman movie in development starring Ben Affleck. Affleck first dropped out of being the director of the film allegedly because he didn’t think he could handle starring AND directing...which sounds pretty simple. Then Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves was apparently being courted for the job, then some rumors of Affleck being (ALREADY?) tired of being The Bat sprouted around the internet....and now apparently the Reeves thing has fallen apart. The movie could very well be in limbo at this point. Read more...

Welcome to the midseason finale. Midseason finales are horrible and there probably isn't a person alive who prefers for a show to start and stop like this. Could you imagine if a sport did this? Seriously, if baseball started in April and went for a month then they took the month of May off and came back in June. Who would even be interested in what's happening? In most cases mid-season finales could be told to go kick rocks but this one kind feels nice. We need a short break from the crazy in Gotham and there is a lot of it in this episode. Read more...

The season finale of Gotham’s season two was nothing shy of amazing. And silly, oh so silly. It’s fine though, it’s a show based on a fictional city that was created for a comic book, it’s not supposed to be real it’s just supposed to be really good. Read more...

Season two of Gotham is aptly titled, “Rise of the Villains”. In the first season we were introduced to many villains, but they were all smaller versions of the super-villain. The two big mob bosses, Falcone and Maroni were highlighted throughout the first season. As far as crime goes they were the main men, but as far as comic book villains go, they were no super-villains. Towards the end of season one we were introduced to more of the type of villain the young Bruce Wayne will be battling in the future. The Mask, Electrocutioner, Ogre, and Dollmaker. This season begs the question; will Bruce Wayne be ready for these villains? Read more...

Episode 13 is titled, “A Dead Man Feels No Cold”, but it could have easily been named Obsess Much? This episode is a continuance from last week’s episode, but it this week it was more of the soap opera story telling. Back and forth between characters, but they all had something in common, obsession.  They’re all overly obsessed with something and their obsessions seem to be getting in the way of them having “normal” lives. Gotham is finally back from the mid-season break and it seems it was worth the wait. Kicking things off is a hearing for Jim Gordon. Did he have anything to do with the death of Theo Galavan? According to Jim Gordon he did not. According to the last episode he’s a liar, liar pants on fire, but that’s ok because there’s a new guy in town who can help put out those flames. Read more...

Go Go Gotham Rangers! No, that's not right, but a little cross-over may have helped episode eight, "Tonight's the Night".  Every episode can't be on the edge of your seat exciting, right? Let's just say that’s right. Crazy Barbara, can we call her crazy?, was let loose by Galavan and she walked right into GCPD with a plan. Considering Barbara is an Arkham escapee and a self-proclaimed murderer, the police jump at the chance to arrest her. The problem with this is it's obvious it's some sort of set up and they all go along with it. Well, everyone except Dr. Thompkins, again she's the only smart, non-murdery one on the show.
