When I was a young adult I craved finding classic comic book stories. Mostly for the artwork, I scoured many a dollar bin in my day looking for any comics I could find illustrated by the legends: Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, John Romita Sr., Gil Kane, John Buscema, John Byrne and of course, Steve Ditko. Eventually I came across the reprints of the first few Spider-Man stories which featured Spidey taking on for the first time, famous rogues such as Chameleon, Lizard, Vulture, Electro and so on. Great stuff that I think everyone should have in their collections, but doubled up in the back of my reprint of the first ever Spidey story from Amazing Fantasy #15 telling the wall-crawler’s origin was the OTHER most popular character that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created together, Doctor Strange. If you’ve followed the Full Page Bleed from the beginning, you would know that one of my favorite ALL-TIME heroes is Luke Cage. Before anyone even knew about this hero (who was once considered B-level), I was always a fan, because he talked more like a street hustler, more like a gangsta rapper, he always walked to his own beat and never took crap from anybody. And along with Iron Fist, he made being a superhero a PAYING JOB! Who would have ever thought any hero would do that?! Read more...

Sometimes I think it’s not even right for me to write reviews on Marvel Studios’ movies. What can I say? I’ve never received one paycheck from the company, and I feel something of a “company man”. I’ve grown up adoring the Marvel Universe and its characters. You can’t look in any direction in my house and not see some kind of Marvel merchandise. But for Captain America: Civil War, I just can’t sit here and not speak about the movie. It’s not even a movie to me at this point. After seeing it I can only call it a materialisation of everything I love about comic book superheroes, specifically Marvel’s brand of heroes. Read more...

Previously on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Saddest episode ever (it’s best to read that imagining Comic Book Guy from The Simpson’s voice in your head)! After tracking Malick to Siberia to investigate an Inhuman prison camp they are planning to build, Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter discovered they were already imprisoning an Inhuman at this facility. They soon found out that this prisoner was a newly Inhuman Russian general who found out about these plans and had gone rogue, with plans to murder the Russian prime minister. His name is Androvich and was an old Marvel villain named Iron Curtain, who had the powers in the MCU as a fellow Russian baddie, Darkstar, who had the power to manipulate Dark Matter (a substance we learned about in the Agent Carter TV series this season), and control a shadowlike clone of herself to do her bidding. When Marvel does a mid-season filler, it goes big! Instead of watching reruns while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is on hiatus, ABC last year had a much more stellar idea...and we got the return of one of the MCU’s most beloved heroines, Peggy Carter. Agent Carter the TV series had an extraordinary season last year, as it took place where Captain America: the First Avenger had left off and Peggy was struggling as the known love interest of WWII’s greatest hero and being a tough and independent woman in the S.S.R. (Strategic Scientific Reserve), the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. , in the late 1940’s. In that male dominated world, Peggy, along with hr old ally Howard Stark and his faithful butler Edwin Jarvis.
