See for yourself! Without further ado, let's begin!
Every year, DC Comics finds a way to dominate the imaginations of cosplayers at Montreal Comiccon. And why wouldn't it be that way? For decades these iconic characters have made us fantasize about a world of gods, monsters, femme fatales, heroes and villainous miscreants that we love to hate.
DC's characters will no doubt live forever...while dedicated fans like these exist to bring them to life!
Special shout out to my little Kid Flash buddy, Miles Ambrus. Costume designed by @lealurette
Video games are taking over, and these few cosplays are excellent examples of that. This year MCC had a huge video game presence, with WB Games, Ubisoft, BioWare, Sony and Microsoft all had huge booths displaying their current and future games, even with a few VR displays! There was even a bigger area with indie companies showing off their projects! Montreal is one of the leading video game developing cities in the world and at MCC we get a chance to be proud of that fact.
Here are a few of the best video game inspired cosplays we found this year! Press start!
Movies & TV
It was pretty overwhelming to see how many cosplays were inspired by some of our favorite movie and TV characters over the years. And I mean, 80's, 90's, the 2000's and today!
Some of the most creative costumes this year looked like they jumped right off the screen! A lot of these fans know they are lookalikes and the con is finally where they get to take advantage of being a doppelganger!
Of course, no cosplay piece is complete without a bunch of the best Marvel Comics cosplays around. Let's not get it twisted, the Big M is still the big dog when it comes to movies and comics, and when Montrealers wanna show their Marvel love, they go all out! Excelsior!
Cosplays from IDW, Dynamite, Image and any other comic properties make it in this category as well as cosplays that I have NO idea where they come from...but they are AWESOME anyway and must be recognized! Here is the best of the best of the weirdest of the weird!
I hope you loved this look at my favorite cosplays from this year's MCC! I have to say I did have some help this year and would like to thank @amandacaliber and @garyraiche for the additional pics! I totally could not have done it without you this year.
But wait, there's more! Did you think I would end a cosplay column without sharing that I met and chatted with one of the most popular cosplayers on the planet?! None other than Jessica Nigri herself! Jessica was cool to come over and say hi at the end of one of her panels over the weekend and posed for a quick pic with yours truly! Oh, and she also thinks my voice sounds a little like Chris Griffin from Family Guy....which is a good thing, right?! I'll take it as a compliment. Maybe I can replace Seth Green one day if he ever quits the show, right?
Stay tuned for more MCC coverage as I interview some comic legends, the writer/director of Wolf Cop II and my favorite and biggest interview of all time, I interviewed someone that is actually a legend in music and pop culture! You won't believe it! Bleed out!
