At the con this year we had pro cosplayers, Leanna Vamp, Monika Lee, Yaya Han, Kamui and of course, Quebec's own Marie-Claude Bourbonnais, who was at our booth all weekend taking pics with fans as Green Lantern Arisia Rrab, Power Girl and of course, her Heroes of the North role, Hornet! So cosplay was bigger than ever at MCC!
Let's get this show on the road, shall we?
DC Comics - And Justice For All!
DC Comics is always well represented by the cosplayers at every con, but I noticed at MCC this year that there were more Poison Ivy cosplays than ever! I think I even saw Ivys literally hanging out with one another! I'm not sure why this was exactly, but I hope DC realizes how popular she is!
Here's Marie-Claude and I giving our best thumbs up! By the way, she totally credits me for introducing her to Superman's cousin a few years ago, and inspiring her to cosplay as her!
Really! I helped make that happen! You're welcome, guys!
Okay, enough bragging! Let's venture into the multiverse, shall we? (See if you can spot the photo bomb from Kick-Ass!)
Marvel Comics - Hooked On A Feeling!
It's the biggest comic book company in the world with the biggest movie universe in the galaxy! And this year at MCC, Marvelites weren't shy to show just how much they love the Big Red M!
Of course we saw lots of Iron Man and Avengers cosplay, but now thanks to a certain movie, cosmic Marvel is bigger than ever! We had Rocket Raccoon, an adorable dancing baby Groot and even Binary Ms. Marvel made an appearance (thanks to my friend, Roxane Paradis, who put together an amazing costume)!
Also, wait until you get a load of my little buddy, Myles Thomas Wolf Ambrus as quite possibly the cutest Wolverine of all time!
This time we'll open up with a pic of me in my Xavier Institute tee with one of the brightest young students at the academy, Pixie! She's a trip!
Team-Ups - Blurred Lines!
Sometimes you end up taking pics of a group of cosplayers portraying characters from different universes and companies! It creates some pretty wild dream teams and team ups you'd never think would happen!
Which is part of the fun with ComicCon, you never know just what mashup ideas you're gonna find! Just imagine Black Canary needing to team up with Bullseye (Season Xero's own Jason Boudreau), or Tank Girl going on adventures alongside Lara Croft?! The possibilities are endless!
Movies & TV - We Are All Made Of Stars!
It's no secret that comic conventions have transcended comic books and cover all aspects of pop culture, so no con is complete without folks dressing up as their favorite characters from movies and television! This year I even ran into The Dude himself!
Whether it's The Big Lebowksi, Dr. Who, Walking Dead, Star Trek or whatever you love to be nuts about, "con culture" is about celebrating it!
Heck, I even met the furriest Doctor of all time! I'm not sure if he was at the right convention...
And oh, yeah. When a Predator asks you to hold a disembodied skull with the spinal cord still attached and pose for a picture with him, you DO it.
And Everything In Between - Gimme More!
And then you get to the point where you don't know EXACTLY who certain fans are cosplaying as, but the craftsmanship of the costume is so spectacular, you just NEED to take a picture of it!
Here you will find costumes inspired by video games, Anime, and just random pop culture inspired cosplay (Slash from Guns N' Roses was just too awesome not to take a pic of!)
As my final intro pic I'd like to show off my photo alongside pro cosplayer Leanna Vamp as Darryl Dixon from Walking Dead.
She's really awesome (not to mention, drop dead gorgeous), and practically sat in my lap...which I'm not complaining at all about! I was happy to give her a place to sit after a long day at the con! She said she loved her time here in Montreal and is now a big fan of poutine! I think we make a good team (of zombie hunters...of course), what do you guys think?
Oh, and about Princess Peach, I asked to take a picture of her and she turned to pose for another person before my camera took the photo! I SWEAR! It was a complete accident! We'll just have to use the pic as is! And she may have taken the "peach" thing a bit too far? At any rate, her costume was really rad! Even the front of it!
Well, that's it for another year of MCC cosplay! There of course were literally THOUSANDS more great cosplays, but ya can't take pictures of all of them, as I'm sure you've seen around the internet! These were the most unique and well crafted ones I came across!
Stay tuned to ENR and the Full Page Bleed in the next few weeks for TONS more coverage including some great interviews with Lady Death mastermind, Brian Pulido, Iron Fist writer/artist, Kaare Andrews, artist of the upcoming Winter Soldier ongoing, Marco Rudy, and the directors of See No Evil 2 (Starring WWE's Kane), the Soska Sisters!
